a little too glowing I believe. the founding fathers were not as perfect as the author describes. still a pretty good article and good reminder to consider beforehand what can be done better this time around.
John Otis Comeau, you must read in context. The founders were men, hence, not perfect. The article is not at all too glowing with reference to what they did and the way they restrained themselves from becoming that which they fought against, while maintaining their highest ideals and goals. The founders were men of high intelligence and morals who achieved greatness where all others failed, by improving the lives and freedoms of others even at the sacrifice of their own.
Every time I find articles describing the Founders intent, I think of the state of current republic, and the erosion of those Rights and liberty's by the usurpation of the Constitution by our current King...and I do mean king. For Obama to claim the right to kill American citizens..for all intents and purposes he has claimed the same throne as pre Magna Carta kings. And it makes me puke. The question is..who can and how would they..stop him and any future POTUS as the precedent is set. Add the NDAA into the recipe and it doesn't take an Eienstien to see where we are heading. What's really outrageous though, is why the American public isn't outraged, or up in arms for that matter. I asked 6 strangers in the last week what they thought about this..and not one single one of them had heard, or would believe it. 2 of them called me a liar. This confirms to me the USG and the MSM have conspired to keep the public in the dark. For the average 'merican citizen..the TV is their only source of "news"..and that news is perverted by the powers that be. Sad. Real Sad.
Fuck you. Take your gay little founder bashing ass back wherever it was and spout off as much as you want there.
Any one of the founders farm animals was a better man than you will ever be.
How dare you presume to tell me who and what the founders were. Did you get your opinions fed to you by public education? Of course you did and now you're an expert qualified to tell me what's what.
I see Heinlein was wrong also. A society must be not only armed but unmasked in order to ensure politeness.
My disagreement with the article is primarily in regard to the sentence beginning with "They never dreamed of placing themselves above the laws that they had made as the people’s representatives...". Washington put down the Whiskey rebellion, though he was one of the large distillers who could take advantage of the discounted "flat" tax while the smaller farmers out west had to pay the higher per-gallon rate. Jefferson made the Louisiana purchase, knowing he was violating the constitution.
If you can take off the rose-colored glasses and see the founders with all their warts and still respect them, it means a lot more to them than putting them on a pedestal that they know they don't deserve.
We the People in order to form a more perfect UNION says it all.
KNOWING no perfection, but Always striving to get closer John..
They succeeded because GOD was on their side, and they understood War is waged on many levels. They began it which what some saw as a TAX.
They knew it was really an Attack on their Livelihoods, Freedom and eventually then their lives, Britain would never stop.
Unlike most of the excuses we make today.
The problems some might have with you is because there is an Old saying if you have nothing nice to say. STFU.
We all know of the Imperfections and failures of our forefathers. WE are their Result. Therefore none of us need you to remind us like some lib: I see you can quote Heinlein , so tell us if you want warts.

Sincerely, Fuck you very much.
The founders did not have ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN and Oprah working against them.
