I wrote both my senators immediately and also my representative asking them to support this bill. In this time of lawlessness the last thing the country needs is more heavily armed goons enforcing the dictats of the beloved leader.
Swat teams are being used as "urban soldiers". Problem is, they don't have the training or moral fortitude required for such actions. I call them government sanctioned, legally immunized killers. If you die as a result of one of their armed forced entries, tough shit. Can't wait for some law abiding citizen to be waiting and prepared with sufficient firepower to take out half of the assault team. Maybe then somebody with legislative power would start the process to end this unconstitutional non-sense.
In the John Wayne movie, The Son's of Katie Elder, the sheriff was trying to control his over zealous deputy when they were going to arrest the suspected 'Elder Gang' for questioning in a shooting. "Don't be so eager. Go reluctantly!"
When they kick in your door and pitch in a flash-bang grenade followed by a dozen armed and masked 'soldiers', they act as if you are guilty from the get go. Under those circumstances, AND BECAUSE THEY THREATEN YOUR LIFE WITHOUT SO MUCH AS AN EXPLANATION, MAYBE THEY DESERVE TO BE SHOT.
Seems pretty simple. Outside federal marshals operating from within the secret service, with open and clear operating parameters, and the department of defense, no executive branch alphabet is lawfully allowed to own, carry or use any arms in the course of its duties.
Need armed personal? Ask kindly the aid of the local sheriff. Oh and have a specific warrant when you do.
Hi Mike, The last line says it all."If they can't 'justify' them, they 'could risk' losing them." Come on Rep. Chris, show some ballz!! Jerk their chain!! Got Gunz??, BSBD, III%, skybill-out
I'm no psychic but I figure this bill has approximately ZERO PER CENT probability of becoming law. I figure it has a decent chance of passing in the house. I do not see Harry Reid even letting it get to the floor for a vote. Assuming by some amazing stroke of fate it DID somehow make it to the floor, there is no way in the WORLD it could pass given that the Dhimmicrats would vote against it as a block along with the usual RINO scallywags. Now, if by some UTTERLY INCONCEIVABLE it should pass the Senate (6 weeks after the Grand Mufti of Mecca converts to Evangelical Christianity) Dear Leader will, no doubt about it, veto the bill.
Bottom line: ain't NO WAY, NO HOW this bill or anything like it (at least not anything that really has teeth) is gonna become law. Nice gesture but it ain't gonna happen.

No "maybe" about it. Anybody who threatens (and I don't mean purely verbal threats) me or mine instantly and irrevocably converts to a target. I'm going to be aiming for those shiny things they like to wear on their upper left chest. I figure a 150 gr. FMJ .30 cal projectile moving at close to 2800 ft/sec is going to make them lose interest in harming me and mine at least for a little while even if it does not penetrate. Once a few are down the rest will advance to the rear and I'll be able to finish them off with a pistol. Gotta save the rifle ammo for serious targets.
Coming to a school district near you - School boards are claiming jurisdiction over what they refer to as " our children " 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If a student does "any" thing that "school officials" deem "unacceptable", anywhere, any time of the year, they are claiming authority to punish the children.
They gotta have swat teams because there will come a point where the zombie parents who aren't paying attention do wake up to what's happening. In fact, the push back is totally expected - hence the Dept of Ed firepower. The subjects need to have repressed beatings until morale improves.

Agreed ! I've given their entry methods some thought, and what I think would be a great attention getter for some of them is this: Take a few houses in various parts of the country that could be considered 'expendable'. They need to have full concrete basements. In the basements, build a framework like that of a teeter-totter with the horizontal cross bar right under the floor of the entry ways. Then take a saw and cut out about a 12 foot or longer section of the floor inside the entry way. Longer if the size of the house permits. Have it so the cut out section of floor remains in place supported by the framework under it. Take a couple of big 'U' brackets that will fit on the horizontal framework bar and can bolt up to the cut out floor on the bottom. In effect, make it like a big teeter-totter. Install some small slide bolts on the underside of the cut out section too, just to hold it in place. Nothing too strong though. You want it to give when weight is put on it. Cover the cut out lines upstairs with a thin rug or cloth so they aren't visible.
You can fix some sort of nasty items underneath the cut out section on the basement floor. Use your imagination and improvise.
With that all done, let them come and kick in the door and rush in one behind the other like they usually do. The charge of the 'bad asses'. 4,5 or 6 of them.
When the cut out section of floor gives way under their weight, and they fall into the basement on top of each other, and maybe on whatever kind of surprise/s you have for them down there, I'll bet you'll get their attention big time !!
And if you have a video surveillance camera where you can watch this from another location, that's the best part. And if there's something highly flammable down there that gets ignited while they're there, oh well.
Just a thought. Old age and treachery will always defeat youth and skill I've been told
AJ @ 9:50 PM - you hit the nail on the head: REGULATORY agencies are NOT the same as enforcement agencies; problem is far too many have 'assumed' those enforcement powers and nothing has been done to check them. Anon. @ 10:43 AM, that already happened, Waco.
Even enforcement agencies should not have SWAT. SWAT is an abomination every bit as revolting as private, for-profit prisons. SWAT should be outlawed at the Federal level.
Everyone want's to be special. What these agencies fail to realize is that they already are, precious little special ones sucking off the American teat. The gravy train has left the station, wait your masters didn't tell you that? Good luck with your little swat teams. Y'all are soooo special.

I don't know why people get upset over armed federal agencies. It is quite normal for criminals to go armed.

I think the problem, (which can be traced directly to liberalism), is that the swat team guys expect their target to be as ruthless as they are.
What happened the presumption of decency? The presumption of innocence?
I know what happened. Progressive liberalism.

... but! But! BUT! How else them teachers gonna control and dominate them drug dealing children - and take the drugs from them?
Gotta be able to KILL them the first time they step out of line to be able to 'teach them a lesson'!

There is absolutely no justification for SWAT teams in any police or regulatory agency.
