Boss Hogg lives on. Montgomery County's anti-liberty "Only One."

One year later: Sen. Scott Beason, NRA hope to see gun bill taken a step further
The Alabama Sheriffs Association opposed Beason's bill last year. Sheriffs gave two basic reasons --- public safety and the potential loss of pistol permit revenues, which help fund their operations. They said the change could lead to more road rage incidents. Montgomery County Sheriff D.T. Marshall says the permit requirement needs to stay in place for loaded pistols in cars. "If you have a weapon in your car and have a permit, somebody has checked you," Marshall said. "Otherwise, people with mental defect, criminals, anybody could be carrying guns."

Does he get paperwork from criminals regularly?

yeah, because nobody in a fit of rage would think of using his car as a weapon.

That says it all, right there. Similar arguments were given for poll taxes and literacy tests for voter registration.

While gun control is inherently idiotic, rarely has the gun control position been stated so idiotically.

Some of the ones carrying loaded guns who have mental defects are obviously some LEOs.
Hey, cops. Notice I said "some".
With some recent reports I have concluded that police are definitely not always your friend, but are sometimes to be feared by peaceful law-abiding citizens.

And, of course, in some places people with mental defects wear uniforms and badges.... as well as guns.

Roscoe P. Coltrain... is that you?

Well, make that LOTS of places.

Like they aren't now?

"Show me in the Second Amendment where the right to bear arms says you've got a right to carry it exposed," Marshall said.

"Shall not be infringed". Or are you too stupid to understand plain English?

Yep, follow the money. The 'argument' used by that good old boy falls apart when one realizes that the majority of individuals he specifies are ALREADY prohibited from owning or possessing guns..............

Thanks for providing an illustration of mental defect with your post.

In reply to Ed:

Once upon a time, the Alabama Sheriff's Association called its enemies 'Niggers'. Now it calls them "Civilians".

When "Law Enforcement" becomes a for profit business, you need as many customers as you can get. No point in turning away business just because a guy's skin is too white.

In NC last year when we were about to get rid of our Pistol Purchase Permit along with expanding Concealed Carry, all of the Sheriffs protested the loss of the PPP and almost killed the bill entirely. It was saved when we agreed to keep the PPP. They didn't even have the decency to tell us the truth (that they were opposed to it because of the loss of revenue) and instead claimed it was for "safety".

All biols down to: 'You want to exercise your unalienable right - which Shall not be infringed? Pay me first, Bud.'

Sounds like a 'protection racket' to me!

That statement doesn't make any sense when you consider people with mental defect and criminals already carry guns when they want to permit be damned.

Wait fellas. I think this guy may be on to something. What Roscoe is saying is that all they have to do is they just create a law and fund it through arbitrary fees. Then all violence goes just away.

That's how it works, right?
