Oh boy, this here video is surely going to send the head chucklehead of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, Mikey Weinstein, into a apoplectic state of frothing hysteria. And you can imagine that the leadership of the Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation is running about gnashing their teeth and tearing at their clothes. This video taken at Camp Pendleton shows U.S. Marines at a Christian worship service singing the upbeat Christian song, “Days of Elijah.” And as you will see, they are very enthusiastic about the song.
I don't understand how anyone, especially someone who considers himself a Christian, could justify joining the US military today. The US military DOES NOT defend freedom or the Constitution. The military serves the domestic enemies of the Constitution, meaning the US government -- a lying, murderous, tyrannical entity that destroys freedom around the world.
How many brutal puppet dictatorships is the US gov currently supporting? How many democratic governments have been overthrown with the direct or indirect help of the US? How many people are imprisoned, maimed, tortured, or killed in service to our ruling oligarchs?
No, there's no Christianity there. The US government is the Father of Lies. That's whom these soldiers are serving, whether they know it or not.
Can I ignore that the source of this otherwise positive story has yet to repent for his own felony assault that occurred in an official form that can be expected to occur to domestic "enemies" in the not too distant future?
I ask myself why conservatives continue to worship at the altar of Allen West. This is the former US Army colonel who took an oath to defend the Constitution, and turned right around and thumbed his nose at his oath and fellow Americans, when he voted for the Patriot Act renewal. Good ol' Allen West, the guy who helped to continue the desecration of our 4th & 5th Amendment Rights. This is the problem with those who consider themselves Patriots, conservatives, keepers of the Constitution. You continue to support the very people who throw us under the proverbial bus. Myself, I wouldn't urinate down West's throat if his lungs were on fire.
I don't worship at AW's altar. There are many things I disagree with him on. I don't endorse foreign wars, especially those fought for no purpose. My son has been labeled "a storm trooper in the U.S. Army" and I have been called "psychotic" for supporting his service. I would like to point out that there were many Founders who weren't necessarily thrilled about participating in British imperialism's war against the French. There were also many Irishmen who took advantage of service in the British Army in World War I to get access to military training and weapons that they later put to good use in the Irish war of independence. Did the Founders "endorse" the British Empire? Did Tom Barry "endorse" the British army he served in? I posted the video because I liked to see Marines singing Christian hymns with gusto. If you don't like it, you're more than welcome to ignore what I post. Hell, most everybody else does anyway.
interesting comments here. Allen West is not pertinent to the story, but it's interesting how important ideological purity is, for some here. Or is it something else?
This gave me a much needed lift. If Soetero wonders which way the guns will point if the SHTF, this might be a clue. And I am amazed at the ayholes who find something to bitch and moan about on this blog no matte what. Questioning these brave young men's spirituality, accusing them of being stupid and working for the devil - if that doesn't speak of one's satanic hubris in judign the souls of others, then I cannot think of a better example. To those who feel that they can replace the Holy Spirit in judging them, I offer the acronym of my Uncle Walter ( my great uncle, actually) a WWI vet. Go ESAD.

As long as we have Marines, the Republic will endure.

That might be the best damned thing I have seen in many a moon.
OH - RAH Marines. Semper Fi.
Inspiring, even for this foreign atheist.
They are good lads. You are lucky to have them.

All that's necessary for evil to exist is for good men to do nothing

The bonds of brotherhood, forged in worship, tempered in battle and blood. I love it. And this old retired Army dog misses it.
