Virginia Open Carrier Is SWATted By Known Gun Control Loon

“Well, we had a person call from 7-11 and they stated that a white guy on a motorcycle robbed the place.”

Most states have laws that cover this crime. In Indiana and several other states, it is called false reporting. If the caller is ID'ed and they make a false statement, the full weight of the law needs to be brought to bear. The phenomenon of SWATting needs to be stamped out, along with police over-reliance on SWAT teams. SWAT is supposed to be reserved for those situations where the police are clearly outgunned and need help - like the North Hollywood shootout. As long as Podunksville has their own SWAT team and fleet of bearcats, getting SWATted is a very real threat.

There are a lot of hungry & agressive lawyers who would love to sue the SWAT caller. I would like to own everything the caller ever had if I had been called on. All the evidence is on record at the 911 center for an Open & Shut case.

It looks like the cop-shop handled it to the OC'er's satisfaction, but there's something weird in the story nonetheless. The story says that the cops were aware of the 911 caller and that he is a "known SWATter," yet the audio of the 911 call had his name cut out, and is not found in the story anywhere. The story says the cops have bailed on trying to bring a criminal charge because they "can't prove criminal intent." They mention that right after mentioning that the unnamed caller is "thought to be mentally ill." Umm....what? They don't even know whether or not he's mentally ill and the mere suggestion that he is is enough to spare him criminal charges for multiple commissions of the same type of crime? Would Mr. Dickens' rights have been thusly protected if they thought him to be mentally ill when they pulled him over for a falsely reported crime? Would he have been on his way in 10 minutes with his weapon holstered and knife returned to his pocket if that were the "thought" of any of the officers who showed up in the six patrol units? I seriously doubt it.

However "professional" or nice the cops were to Mr. Dickens for those 10 minutes, they and the local DA are failing to protect his rights and safety, as well any other law abiding citizen who might fall victim to this unknown serial false reporter, and are derelict in their duties in that failing. Bob Owens of Bearing Arms should report that part of the story too, but instead, the whole story slobbered copious amounts of praise on the cops for their "professionalism" and didn't even mention that the DA or cops should be pursuing charges against the serial criminal. What's up with that?

SWATTING is the same as calling in a false fire alarm and should be prosecuted as such.

Unless and until the law decides to punish these people for these crimes, I'd like to suggest that we "fight fire with fire".

I fully understand that we need to maintain the moral high ground, but this story says that the moonbat responsible for this has done it several times, and said moonbat is still at liberty and at large to continue this behavior, and it might get someone hurt or killed.

Turning the game around on those playing it may result in them being hurt or killed by the very weapon they are attempting to wield on us- armed gov't agents.

Poetic justice, if you ask me.

I'm in agreement with "Anon:2:26pm. Can anyone think of a way to get these jerks out into the open? I mean, get to find out publicly who they are (where they live wouldn't hurt either). It would be interesting to see how many late-night visitors they get...

I believe a 911 recording is public record. If it is public record, it can be requested through an open records request.

Getting that information widely disseminated will probably slow it down.

What else is new?

This sort of thing will be taken care of in the coming war.

"I'd like to suggest that we "fight fire with fire"."

Nope. The Swatters are losing the PR war. Why would you want to interfere with that? Yeah, publicize, but no counter-SWATting...
