You Lucky Buckeyes: Knight's Panorama of Andrews' Raid on display at the Ohio Historical Society.

I hope all you Buckeye Three Percenters take a trip to the Ohio Historical Society Museum in Columbus to see Knight's Panorama of Andrew's Raid also known as "The Great Locomotive Chase.

The Great Locomotive Chase or Andrews' Raid was a military raid that occurred April 12, 1862, in northern Georgia during the American Civil War. Volunteers from the Union Army commandeered a train and took it northwards toward Chattanooga, Tennessee, doing as much damage as possible to the vital Western & Atlantic Railroad (W&A) from Atlanta, Georgia to Chattanooga as they went, pursued by other locomotives. Because they had cut the telegraph wires, Confederate forces along their route had no notice of their arrival. The raiders were eventually captured and some were executed as spies. Some of Andrews' Raiders became the first recipients of the Medal of Honor. -- Wikipedia.
The raid was not a skylark and had a specific strategic purpose (see Wikipedia link). As a commando raid, although it failed in its ultimate purpose through bad luck, it was brilliantly conceived and bravely executed and ought to be studied by Threepers for lessons learned.

I sense this story can help convey a message which many "soft core" folks need to hear.

There was a strategic need to engage in unlawful behavior, yet they did it anyway and stole that train, cut communication lines, committed arson and vandalism, etc. When caught, the laws in force at the time brought down consequences, but they felt being victorious in a cause was more important than being law-abiding.

The "soft core" today are angry, but they are waiting in vain for the right time to take action. They want to be able to do things like this without feeling like they are breaking the law or later being subject to consequences. Know that day will never come.

If the cause of freedom becomes more important to people than the desire to remain law-abiding, then we shall have made a major step towards restoration of our country. Those who aren't willing to break a window or spray paint a sign are obviously not ready to fight in this cause. Be courageous, which is action in spite of fear.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means." -- Thomas Jefferson to John Colvin, 1810.

Yes, these Union government thugs met their just reward by the heroic actions of Southern men.

Disney's travesty of a movie notwithstanding the truth.

The entire war of aggression against the seceded southern states was unlawful. No surprise there.

The side Threepers should study for lawfulness and tactical operations is the Confederate side in general and Nathan B. Forrest in particular. Forrest was so successful that merely hearing that he was near a Union thug's position would cause them to "lose their water".

Y'all come on down to Georgia. We have the actual locomotives used in the chase, The General, and the Texas. Each with it's own fine museum.

There has always been an order to these things that is as true today as they were in the 1770s. Soap Box, Ballot Box, Jury Box, Cartridge Box and folks we are still using the first three with some success and must in all good faith await the full measure of their results. The tide is turning and people are waking to the call of liberty lets us pray it is not too late. I would rather not leave this life with the blood of Americans, even the collectivists, on my hands unless no other recourse exists.

Mr. Rhodes, with all due respect, if you think things are going to change after the November elections and those elected take office in January, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

There will be naught but a repeat of the events of 1995, that is to say, someone like the grandstanding, crazy Newt Gingrich, et al (God, how I wish he'd go away).

People like Olympia Snow and others with seniority will guarantee progressivism will remain in place just like last time. The Neocons will help them.

Pat, I claim neither foresight not phophesy there are just too many issues and too many variables. I do know the example set for us by history and the disaster of engaging in the last resort before all other options finish their course. This is not 1995 there was nothing then like the activism we see today, this site is a prime example.

If we were to give up on the ability of Americans to correct past mistakes why would we trust them to the far more perilous task of insurrection? I hold them in higher regard than that.
