Mr. Mike, Ask your oncologist whether methylphenidate hydrochloride (Ritalin®; Novartis; East Hanover, NJ), the recently available of its longer-acting preparations, Concerta® (ALZA; Mountain View, CA), or other longer-acting preparations—Ritalin-SR®, Adderall®, Adderall XR™, or Dexedrine SR might effectively help alleviate your cancer-induced fatigue.
See: "Methylphenidate for fatigue in advanced cancer: A prospective open-label pilot" studyhttp://ajh.sagepub.com/content/18/3/187.abstract?ijkey=0a304ea063e3ce5fa1e0820bec129f55f669d2e0&keytype2=tf_ipsecsha
I was just thinking about Ritalin/Adderal myself, and then somebody posted. It can make a huge difference in energy levels etc. Side effects are loss of appetite and weight loss, so that may pose an issue, but seriously consider it.
In any case, I am praying for your health in mind, body and spirit. God is great and He loves us, even when we struggle. Keep the faith!
Comes a time when it's time to rest. Take care of yourself. Post as you can, but don't let a blog wear you out when time might be better spent with those you love and cherish at home.
Hang in there, sir, you're not alone. I've got my own battle, Hodgkins lymphoma stage 2, just finished my fourth cycle of chemo, now for a battery of scans and tests to check our progress.
I don`t know nor you me, but I found this blog and have continued to return to it over the last many months. I found a lot of good information here and a lot of strong common sense. Just to let you know you have many praying for you and being better informed to carry on the fight because of you.You sir are doing as God commanded to be the watchman on the wall and to occupy until he comes.
