Many times I don't think the ATF cares if they win or not, as long as they can cause the defendant to spend a lot of money on his defense. The ATF has virtually unlimited resources to prosecute you. Sometimes they'll just break you with legal expenses, even if you win the case. A case some years ago cost an Alabama gun store owner defendant over $300K for lawyers over a 2 year period, even though he eventually beat the ATF in court. Charges wound up being dismissed by the judge (after 2 years) because ATF had refused to show evidence they had which would have tended to exonerate the defendant. But that defendant suffered much anxiety and has that much less for retirement while the ATF agents don't have any problem with their retirement funds.
So they picked what they thought was an easy target and tried to ruin a man's life...
Because they're such good guys who mean well, right? And I'll bethca those same agents will tell you they are oath keeping Constitutionalists who support the second amendment, and would swear their agency doesn't have an anti-freedom agenda.
Thanks for posting this story and conclusion. I had missed it the first time around. What a travesty perpetrated by our government! It is astonishing that someone of such sterling character was targeted, and of course federal informants are always dirtbags. That is how they get 'owned' by the gov.
At least this one ended well, other than furthering the cause of the "full employment for lawyers act." They ALWAYS come out shiny!
You read about these instances of ATF oppression all the time. They try to make a name for themselves by breaking people financially. Justice means less than nothing to these sub-human scumbags. One day, they'll screw with the wrong person; some one older who has lived his life and don't give a shit for tomorrow. They'll try their terrorism and receive a face full of lead. The good news is; their children will be eligible to attend the orphans picnic.
Atom Ant; you would have us go hat in hand to beg the people who legislate away our liberty for the consideration of being reimbursed?
These scumbags should be made to crawl on their hands & knees, and crawl every inch from the Capitol all the way back to their home districts, stopping at every home along the way and beg forgiveness for decades of tyranny gradually inflicted upon the American people. They should stop at every doorstep and beg forgiveness for 100 years of wage slavery at the hands of the Federal Reserve and IRS.
And it is my sincere hope that the people will spit upon them and flog them at every step along the way.
Our recompense will only come when we remove them from their seats of power, and send them to hell on the horse(whore?) they rode in on!!

Petition our legislators for laws that would at least reimburse documented expenses when winning a case against government agencies.
