Praxis: Urban Camouflage. Dressing For Success – The Success Of Going Unnoticed

When most folks think of wearing camouflage, they think of some guy wearing some green splotchy thing as he creeps about the woods. Add the word urban to that, and you think of some guy wearing some gray and black splotchy thing as he creeps around the city. Well, toss those thoughts out, because what we’re gonna do is teach you how to get about town without becoming a target, yet blend in perfectly.

If TSHF, I've already decided to go with jeans, boots, t-shirt, sleep shirt, and a white Orvis Traders shirt. At a glance, I'll "be" trash.

The art of camouflage is the art of blending in wherever you are. And that applies to clothes and customs.

Thought Purchasing an exCop Crown Victoria would be a Cool Idea. Little did I Know that Driving One of those Instantly Places One 'Behind Enemy Lines'
Suggest to Go with a 90's Taurus. They are 99.9% Invisible.

Many years ago I saw a guy at the local Post Office driving a CAMMO painted pick-up truck with the words STATE MILITIA painted on the driver's door. In my opinion he stuck out like a SORE THUMB. In my opinion, the idea is to blend in and not be conspicuous to avoid calling attention to yourself. I think the most common vehicle around (in my area) is a white Ford/Chevy/Dodge Pick-up truck. Whatever you do (IMHO) do not draw attention to yourself & your family but try to blend in and look like thousands of other people. I do not advise bumper stickers that might call attention to you. I love my country but I FEAR MY GOVERNMENT. Maybe if some of the Gubmint Officials got (involuntarily) a Frontal Lobotomy, things might become different.

My father-in-law was in the old OSS before it became the CIA. I once asked him if he ever met Ed Lansdale (a name I had picked up from reading The pentagon papers). He responded that he had trained Lansdale. From that I gathered that he knew more than a little bit about that sort of business. They are now both buried at Arlington.

He once told us that an operator that acted like James Bond did in the 007 novels would not last 24 hours in the real world. The goal of a covert operator should be to be the person that many see but no one notices, or remembers. That is the essence of "urban camouflage"
