Potatoes seem to be delicate plants compared to rutabega and turnips, which I've found growing 'wild' in the woods of my deer hunting area. Assumedly (is that a word?) planted as bait to hunt over (it's difficult to say for certain since stands are now required to be removed after hunting season).
Deer seem to prefer turnips to rutabega in my area, but both seem to be good attractants and worth planting, if 'fair chase' rules don't matter as much as having meat to eat.
