"What do I care if a criminal is dressed in rags or a police officer’s uniform?” The debate over the right to keep and bear arms -- IN RUSSIA. And they're quoting Jefferson.
"'Nanny State’ Wants No Firearms for Russians."
In December 1917, weeks after coming to power, the Bolsheviks launched a drive to confiscate all firearms from the hands of the Russian populace. They never gave them back.
Old habits die hard, and Russia’s restrictive gun legislation was never seriously softened over the past 100 years, despite regular calls to the purpose, the latest of which came last week from a pro-Kremlin senator.
Those who oppose firearms are wary of the temperamental populace, predicting shooting rampages and an increase in murder rates.
But some skeptics claim the real reason the Kremlin is not allowing the public to own firearms is fear that armed citizens will turn their guns on the country's notoriously corrupt bureaucrats.
“They’ll just start killing off officials,” said Mikhail Pashkin, head of the Moscow Police Labor Union.

YUP!
DON'T SEE A DOWN SIDE THERE!
Maybe Corrupt Officials would though.
Nice to see we have that in common. Unfortunate that the Russian solution is probably the only option at this point.
Which is exactly why our intellectual betters on the Hill are trying so diligently to unencumber us of our firearms.
The question to ask is, "Why do Russian officials and bureaucrats believe the people they serve want to kill them?"
I think we are showing amazing self-control.
White House: Obama Supports Renewing Assault Weapons Ban — But Congress Won’t Act
President Obama supports reinstating the assault weapons ban, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters Monday, on the heels of back-to-back shooting rampages in the United States.
As a presidential candidate, Obama supported renewal of the 1994-2004 federal ban on manufacturing some semi-automatic weapons for civilian use. But he hasn’t pushed for it as president, largely steering clear of the issue.
“He does support renewing the assault weapons ban,” Carney said at his press briefing, one day after a shooter killed six people at a Sikh gurdwara in Wisconsin. In response to several questions, he added that “there has been reluctance by Congress to pass that renewal.”
I reckon that cop union spokesman told the honest truth. He articulated the fear that a WHOLE LOTTA public servants have but refuse to.

+10 raised to the 250th power! I don't care what they're wearing when they come for mine or how their outfit is accessorized, they can peel my gun from my cold, dead, GSR-begrimed hands!

More honesty than you'll find anywhere in America.. our domestics feel the same way here, they're just are afraid to verbalize it honestly.. a shame since all they have to do to avoid such a necessity is to obey their employers and their oath.. simple, No ?
Now you can see the corruption angle clearly.

The pic of that shorty AK looks a lot like the AK-47 pistol I got from CenterfireSystems.com before they ran out of them. Still haven't had the time to test fire mine but I do like the idea of a rifle cartridge in a (long) pistol. Nothing like having firepower advantage in close quarters.
