"Kill All They Send..."

Back in April 2007, I wrote this guest editorial for David Codrea's War on Guns blog. Given all the recent calls for firearm confiscation, repeal of the 2nd Amendment and other proposed violations of the Law of Unintended Consequences, a friend suggested that I should reprint it.
Homer Simpson.
"Kill All They Send..."
The Modest Proposal of "Homer Simpson's Dumber Brother" for Gun Confiscation & A Modest Counter-Proposal
By Mike Vanderboegh
Pinson, AL
Homer Simpson's Dumber Brother Daniel.
"Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Nations and peoples who forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms." — Robert Heinlein
"Hell, let's just start shooting the bastards. Let's get this crap over with while I'm still young enough to march in the victory parade down Pennsylvania Avenue." -- An American gun owner, overheard in a Birmingham, Alabama, gun store, 27 April 2007.
Career Foreign Service Officer and former Ambassador Daniel H. Simpson, now slumming in retirement as a member of the Toledo Blade & Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's editorial board, has a modest proposal entitled "The Disarming of America." Unlike Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal" for the Irish poor to alleviate their hunger by eating their children, I think Ambassador Dan is really serious about his. A snippet:
"The disarmament process would begin after the initial three-month amnesty. Special squads of police would be formed and trained to carry out the work. Then, on a random basis to permit no advance warning, city blocks and stretches of suburban and rural areas would be cordoned off and searches carried out in every business, dwelling, and empty building. All firearms would be seized. The owners of weapons found in the searches would be prosecuted: $1,000 and one year in prison for each firearm.
Clearly, since such sweeps could not take place all across the country at the same time. But fairly quickly there would begin to be gun-swept, gun-free areas where there should be no firearms. If there were, those carrying them would be subject to quick confiscation and prosecution. On the streets it would be a question of stop-and-search of anyone, even grandma with her walker, with the same penalties for 'carrying.'"
-- The Toledo Blade, Wednesday, April 25, 2007
"In Timor Veritas"?
Not surprisingly the gun rights community has evinced more than a little anger at this brazen proposal for their disarmament and enslavement. David Codrea, whose War On Guns blogspot I greatly admire, has referred to Ambassador Dan as "Homer Simpson's Dumber Brother." Certainly Dan Simpson, if he is serious, has got to be one stupid human being not to anticipate the unintended consequences of his declaration, which plays into the worst fears and direst predictions of American gun rights advocates since the 1968 Gun Control Act. Yet, since the DC gun law was struck down by the Federal Appeals Court, the hoplophobes have become more open in their demands: we hear less about "reasonable restrictions" and much more about repealing the Second Amendment. Heck, even here in Alabama we've had a proposal (House Bill 600) to register every semi-automatic rifle, pistol and shotgun in private hands in the state. Of course it doesn't have a snowball's chance of being passed, but. . . then why introduce it?
The Romans used to say "In vino veritas", or, "In wine there is truth." But these folks are not, as near as we can tell, drunk. Perhaps what we are dealing with is "In timor veritas"-- In fear there is truth. Cops have been known to inadvertently scare suspects so much that they blurted out their own unintended confessions and perhaps that is what is going on here. The gun grabbers are nervous. The Virginia Tech massacre was supposed to strengthen their legislative hand, yet it is the gunnies who seem the stronger for it now. We didn't react the old timorous NRA way as they expected us to. Those of us who share the traditional American values of the Founder's republic-- faith, responsibility, opportunity and armed defense of liberty-- have finally been pushed to the point that they've made us fighting mad. We've been pushed to the point where it is WE who are beginning to push back. And with their calls for the repeal of the 2nd Amendment, the gun control crowd is risking not just a push but a punch in the nose.
They look at the massacre and see the need for more regulation, registration and confiscation. We look at the dead innocents, deliberately disarmed and made easy targets in a carefully crafted, firearm-free environment, and blame their big liberal lies and unintended idiocies for the body count. "Gun Free School Zone" is a lie every bit as much as "Arbeit Macht Frei" and every bit as deadly. We see these bright young kids and talented professors who were killed without a hope of self defense, who were killed, indeed, by liberalism itself, and we blame the butchers with immaculate hands who cleared the way for the killer and made it all possible. Yet it is WE, the law-abiding and self-reliant, who are blamed by THEM, the servile toadies of collectivism. Our rising anger is in fact a measure of how close we are coming to a final break in this country between our two competing visions of America. Indeed, if Homer Simpson's dumber brother is serious, the opening shots of this impending civil war cannot be that far away.
One Ping Only (Please Deposit 50 Cents)
Captain Ramius: "Re-verify our range to target... one ping only."
Capt. Vasili Borodin: "Captain, I - I - I just..."
Captain Ramius: "Give me a ping, Vasili. One ping only, please."
Capt. Vasili Borodin: "Aye, Captain."
"The Hunt for Red October," 1990
But let us assume that, for the sake of argument and illustration, Ambassador Dan's proposal is serious. Let us assume that he is presenting us with a fictional fascist future backdrop that we may play like a video game. Let us believe for the moment in the literal word of former Foreign Service Officer Daniel H. Simpson's proposal yet conjure up our own modest fictional counter-proposal. Like Captain Ramius in "The Hunt for Red October," Ambassador Dan has given us a ping. Let us then give him one ping back. These pings (his and ours) may be warnings, threats of imminent attack, pleas for understanding, or attempts at communication across the gulf of a vast, dense ocean which prevents any other way of determining real meaning. But in any case let us play a game, starting with the scenario he has given us:
"The disarmament process would begin after the initial three-month amnesty. Special squads of police would be formed and trained to carry out the work. Then, on a random basis to permit no advance warning, city blocks and stretches of suburban and rural areas would be cordoned off and searches carried out in every business, dwelling, and empty building."
Our modest counter-proposal posits the following:
\
1. Like the American Revolution, one third of populace will side with the King, one third with the opposition and one third will blow with the wind and take what comes. Of the resistant third, less than a third of those will risk anything to give form to their beliefs, thus only about ten or so percent of the population, roughly 30 million citizens, will actively support the folks who will engage Dan's "special squads". (You know the Nazis called their special squads "Einsatzgruppen.") In the Revolution, the active combatants, Continentals and militia, only amounted to 3% of the population. That would be about 10 million anti-confiscation guerrillas. Alternatively, we could use 10% of American gun owners as a good rule of thumb, and that would be just 8.5 million. But let's make it even tougher on ourselves. Let us say for the sake of argument that as a result of liberal media propaganda and the cumulative deleterious effect of liberal government schools, just one percent of American gun owners would fall into the "cold dead hands" category: that's a mere 850 thousand. These would be the hard core-- the men and women who know how to kill at range, and who, with their scoped .30-06 deer rifles can out-range and out-shoot the M16 rifles and 9mm submachine guns of Dan's American Einsatzgruppen.
2. Unlike the American Revolution, the civil war will reflect the coarsening of the rules of war and will look more like Iraq or Bosnia. The war would certainly extend to those whose direct and support it-- civilian or not-- as they are primary targets, far more so than the foot soldiers of Ambassador Dan's Einsatzgruppen. Bill Clinton extended our own rules of war in the Kosovo intervention to include the news media and other propagandists as legitimate targets. Under these rules, Ambassador Dan and his anti-gun ilk would all be dead men. But, this is just a hypothetical word representation of a video game of Simpson's fictional fascist future, so they need not be afraid just yet.
3. The war would not end until one vision of America or the other won. It would be war to the knife and knife to the hilt. The 850,000 traditional Americans would be determined to take as many of the Einsatzgruppen, their commanders and controllers with them as possible. And it would be far greater than a one-to-one ratio. The fanaticism that the liberals have always imputed to us, would in the event, become real and deadly. If Ambassador Dan's future fascists do win, it will be a Pyrrhic victory that would, for destruction and casualties, dwarf all of America's wars put together. Which, if you think of it, is a funny way to have a "safe" society.
"Kill all they send..."
Viet Minh Sergeant: "Do we take prisoners?"
Lt. Col. Nguyen Huu An: "No. Kill all they send... and they will stop coming."
-- The Opening Scene of "We Were Soldiers"
What would be the casualties? God alone knows, but they would be horrific. How would the government prosecute such a policy with their own police and military honeycombed with potential "traitors"? Poorly, I suspect. How many of those soldiers and policemen that Ambassador Dan is counting on to disarm us would, in the event, turn their weapons on the "National Command Authority"? More than enough to make success for his future fascists problematic. And not even during the previous civil war of 1861-1865 did an American army attempt operations with armed opponents astride and within its own logistical tail. And it would be a WAR, make no mistake, not the sanitary "police action" of the scenario of Homer's dumber brother. And how would the big bad boys of the ATF and FBI fare against committed freedom fighters? Even well-paid federal police bureaucrats just want to live until retirement. How long do you think they would last when team after team of them are shot down like dogs in the street, garroted in their sleep, poisoned in their mess halls, or found with their throats slit in guardposts, restrooms and bordellos? We will kill all you send, Ambassador Dan, until they stop coming.
"Bzzzzt. Boink. Beep. Game over. Please deposit 50 cents."
So, thus ends the intellectual, hypothetical exercise posed by this mandarin class former Foreign Service professional turned newspaper expositor of tyrannical schemes. Let us disclaim that no treasonous, gun-grabbing editorialists were harmed in the crafting of this fictional counter-proposal. But of course, if he's SERIOUS. . . . ;-)

Constitution, Smonstitution. We don't need no stinking Bill of Rights!

Or civil or human rights for that matter.

We should just follow the strong men and do what they want. Freedom doesn't work. Only through the control and direction of others can we hope to achieve perfection. And they'll be glad to lead us there because they know best and are smarter than we are! For the small price of our minds and our bodies.

Yup! They've got it all planned out!
Except for the part where we don't go along with them.

Except for the part where they begin to realize just how much we now hate and despise them as traitors to the human race, our republic and would be dictators.

Except when they realize that they are no longer safe from us because we have realized that they are the primary threat to the republic and wish to make us and our families, their slaves.

We should just all submit to their superiority and start kissing their toes. But reality is that we will probably be hacking them off one at a time instead. Then again, I do rather like the founders idea for tarring and feathering and then lighting them on fire, perhaps with the twist of hanging their bodies over a street bridge for all to see? That ought to make the evening news wouldn't you think? Especially if if one of their "news" producers, managers, spokespersons, etcetera?

I'm still looking but I don't see any way to avoid this eventuality. They apparently recognise the threat as well because most of their efforts are now geared towards creating fear within our ranks but dead men don't know fear, they only care about the enemy and results and as Mike said, this will be a fight to the death.

Lets not beat around the fucking bush here. For the "elites",(who are anything but), this All comes down ultimately to guns. Everything these ruling class scumbags do revolves ultimately about guns. Why? Because simply, it is guns that give these pieces of human garbage their power. It is guns, in the hands of those that they fear will rise up against them, that they fear is a threat like nothing else. And they are correct. It is guns that if they are to take over our country, must control in order to rule with an iron fist. It is guns that they must take from the populous in order obtain that absolute power. It is guns they understand like none other are the real power behind anything. Especially Liberty! Guns are, in the greatest profound concept imaginable, the teeth of Liberty, the great equalizer. See, their plans have not gone too well American's have resisted their soothing lies at every turn, these psychopaths are getting worried, they are almost out of time, they have had to resort to revealing their true evil intent. You see it every day, in the desperate finger pointing, the false flag events, the desperate ploys of the state media complex to taint everything with a slant to fooling just enough people. So for all the bullshit rhetoric about old fashioned outdated concepts of the founding of this here Republic of rule of law by long dead white guys who clung to their traditions, their bibles, their guns, the elites know the existential threat to their power, their very lives is embodied in the right to keep and bear those exact same guns.
In no uncertain terms, it is, guns, force of arms our system of government now lives by. In a civil society, in a society based on the virtue and principles of reason, the government has no use for arms against us of the citizenry. A citizenry that for almost 2 centuries regulates itself through natural order of natural law, liberty, and the creation of prosperity. Funny double standard here, tyranny, the imposition of it, requires guns, lots of guns, mmmmn? Tyranny, as you and I and those imposing know full well, grates on ones life prosperity and liberty like an abscessed tooth.
Ultimately, it is these very same guns they desire to take from the rest of us, that are behind that tyrannical power. Where the threat of escalation in establishment and continuation of that power gained through violation of the rule of law, are guns that they use to enforce everything if you refuse to submit.
So it is guns in the hands of We The People that they fear most. Something that which our founders understood from 1st hand experience. It was, it is, guns that are the ultimate bulwark against tyranny, and the only teeth contained in our natural order of the rule of law of our civil society of our Constitution. The legal, lawful power to abolish government, government not of our choosing or making, the one created by these same "elites", who strive never ending through decades and decades to take those guns from us all, a government that has now become destructive of the very ends it was designed to support.

Any thing else is a cheap side show.

It is the liberty to keep and bear arms that the tipping point balances. Not for a second do I think, if we had not that God given natural right to self defense, would there be a question of the day. I would not even have that freedom, it would not exist but for the arms I bear.

When the idea that the laws, regulations, imposed, laws outside the purview of the framework of rule of law of our founding blood, when the reality that what is good for the "elites" only applies to the "elites" begins to sink in to the minds of the middle class, all we have worked a life for, to be damned as bitter, racists, too rich, damned for clinging to our morality, our faith, our gospel of liberty, well the idea that the gun is all that's left of sovereign will, and these "elites" want that also, well, there is your tipping point.

If the government announced that something like that would be going into effect, it would be the same as declaring open season on anyone and everyone wearing a uniform.

They simply don't have the resources to do it all at once. Once the news got out that they were doing it, citizens would take steps to conceal their firearms and ammo.

I personally already have.

I get the impression that Danny-boy has little to no idea of just how very, very badly his scheme would blow up.

His plan is akin to a child wishing for whipped cream on their pizza. -At first it seems like a good idea til you have to actually take a bite.

If you do not see that try again.
We have already given up way too many rights we no longer are allowed Full Auto, Mortars and flame throwers, let alone artillery and High Explosives.

The Right to Keep and Bear Arms means anything they have we get too.

All you have to do and need to Know is to look at the Arrogant Scumbag Schumer when Susan Gratia Explains how her parents were murdered by the Politicians.

HOW DARE SHE WASTE HIS TIME ON EARTH, ONLY THEY ARE SPECIAL, Just not very MORAL.

I am not sure what 'good' concealing our guns and ammo would do. It certainly wouldn't regain any of our lost liberties.

I have many friends who plan to hunker down with their families in a survival mode. I am not sure how this would be successful in the long run, either.

What must be done is exactly as MVB describes...basically, Make Them Pay! In blood. Or die trying. It is the choice that our Founding Fathers made, and the only choice that I can envision as being successful.

I am amazed every time I hear these pseudo intellectuals debase and defile our rights as if they are some contrived creation of fools. After 30+ years of it I should have become somewhat jaded however every once in a while one special idiot shows me a new level of relative stupidity unseen in several generations at best.
For this Quisling asshole to promote such an obviously unconstitutional and illegal action as a viable solution to his concept of an illegality is not only asinine and pathetic but showcases the mindset of those who see themselves as our rulers.. imagine the cretin mindset that believes he has the lawful right to initiate such an action and yet remain completely safe during the process.. LMAO !

They really still dont get it.. a shame for them and theirs.

Come and try.

We've been allowing our rights to be stolen by extra judicial means for too long.
Should a policy, law or otherwise defined "order" be enacted such as this Quisling scumbag recommends we should be getting our weapons out and using them rather than hiding them for any longer.. There is a timely reminder in "we Were Soldiers ..."
The utility of the bayonet - as some who would enslave us are not worth, nor worthy of, powder and shot.
We can only surmise that the looks upon their faces - as the bayonet slid home - would mirroe that of those dragged from the Tumbrill to the Guillotene.
"What have I done wrong?"
We must strive to educate them upon this point before the worst happens in a probably vain attempt to turn them to rejection of their foul philosophy.

Sure! Some gun owners will trundle their firearms off to the local police collection point as required.

Sure! Some of the holdouts will hand them over when the house-to-house collection teams inform them that "Yeah, we really meant you and your guns."

Sure! Some of the remainder will do the "cold dead fingers play" and stand in their doorway trading hot lead with the SWAT team, for a few brief moments anyway.

But eventually the day will come to pass when a collection team encounters a prepped and ready fire team who proceeds to punch holes in their body armor and the hulls of their lightly armored vehicles. Or when one of their collection bases is overrun and leveled.

That day will be when the world will change. Like congress spending more than a year trying to assure George III that Lexington and Concord were all a big misunderstanding, the powers that be will find that sometimes there just is no putting the toothpaste back in the tube. They will find that starting a war is always easier than ending one.

Taking the life of another human is always a weighty thing. But just like before I decided to CCW, I took on that responsibility and gamed it through in my head.

With the collections squads, many will also have to make that weighty calculation. I have already made that calculation.

To quote n Amrican much more famous than I.

"For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery...I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience...Shall we resort to entreaty and humble supplication...There is no retreat but in submission and slavery...Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery...I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"

I will have Liberty until my death. The questions are only how long I will live, if it is necessary for me to send others to their death to maintain my liberty and how long liberty lasts beyond my death. For just as I must maintain my health or die, liberty is no different.

We have a very current example to look at right now. Syria. If Assad should "prevail", what will he have?
What will the population have? This cannot continue until everybody in Syria is killed. This will be the situation here if Simpson's plan were to be put in place. After it has started, one or the other will win, but Assad can never win this one. I don't think the elite in the USofA have an inkling of how much anger there is out here. It would be like the fuse of a bomb a foot from your face just begging to be lit off. Once it's lit that's all she wrote.

I have known, and dealt with, this asshole in my fight with the city of Toledo over CCW in 2005.

He is exactly as my fellow posters have drawn him - an elitist, statist, arrogant ass. His is all huff and no puff.

When, my brothers, NOT IF, the SHTF, he will be cowering in some "secure" abode while the Neo-SS make their vain attempt to bring we rabble under their boot.

I know not what ye think, but this I KNOW: I have sworn on my life, many times until retirement from the U. S. Armed Forces, to "protect and DEFEND the Constitution of The Unbited States of America from ALL enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC". Simply because I've retired does not mean I've forgotten nor forsaken my Solemn Oath.

What Tyrants and wannabe tyrants like Simpson apparently cannot comprehend is that there are far worse things than dying. The price paid in blood by generations past is not so lightly dismissed, and I have taught such to my children and grandchildren. They know of Freedom, and the heavy price that has been paid. This they will not forget.

To the Daniel H. Simpsons of the world: If you are serious, try to impose your will. I GUARANTEE that we will account for you, many times over, and it won't be one-for-one. Do you honestly think we'll let all of that military training go to waste?

1st, you let me stay in; then, you let me get out. And I brought all the skills, experience, training and DEDICATION TO CAUSE WITH ME.

TRY IT. TRY ME. TRY US. But make your peace with G-d first.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”
