The local defense force in Obo includes over 200 people, organized into 5 separate groups. Almost every member was armed with a homemade shotgun loaded with hand packed shells (check out the raw footage below of one of the groups in action). These groups formed shortly after the LRA devastated the town in March of 2008, abducting 100 people and killing scores of others. Unwilling to wait in fear as the LRA fighters continued unrelenting attacks- abducting children, stealing supplies, and murdering civilians- local people took action and began to volunteer their time to defend their community.

How long before the Brady bunch comes on the scene to “get guns off the street”?
This story reminds me of the Machine Gun Preacher who's helping save children from the wars in Africa.

Your embedded video is the Jimmy Durante one from yesterday...
Thanks for that, Mike. I needed that today, and had to say so.
Something which COULD be coming to towns in the US very soon!
How about: as a practical and effective charitable gift, American firearms owners send over guns suitable for defence. The NRA should get on it, there is precedent.
If we tell the ATF these guys are Mexican Narcoterrorists, we can get them better weapons.
I have friends who are headed to Uganda for missionary work. I suggested that they learn how to make a bow and fletch arrows and teach that alongside readin' writin' and 'rithmatic. A decent bow had got to be more reliable than the homemade shotguns using homemade powder, and probably is quicker on the second shot, and is going to have about the same range. Of course, I didn't mention the martial aspects of bows to them, I mentioned it's use for game and competition/sports, and for empowering young women.
