Western officials discuss taking land from feds.

Officials from nine Western states say it's time they take control of federal lands within their borders. The lawmakers and county commissioners met at Utah's Capitol on Friday to discuss their joint goal of wresting oil-, timber- and mineral-rich lands away from the feds. The Legislative Summit on the Transfer of Public Lands, as it was called, was not publicized until midday, when the Utah House sent out notice of a 4:30 p.m. news conference.

Harry says if the folks at Bunkerville are patriots then we're in trouble.

First time since I've known of him that he speaks the truth. Yep, Harry is in trouble. He sees his little corrupt empire crumbling.
Fuck you, asshole.

Go get'em Mike.

Is there a link where I could get more info on this?

The land belongs to the people.

The feds have abandoned any positive stewardship they might have had over the land to extremist NGOs and special interests.

The land should be turned back to the western states, their counties, and municipalities, as they have enough experience with working the land there for them to do it positively.

Portions of the land should be available for ranching, skiing, shooting, and off-roading so that as many constituent groups may have a place to use our land as they see fit. I am sure there is room for tortoises somewhere, just not on the Bundy's ranch.

The days of crooks like Reid and friends selling development, mineral, and mining rights to the Chinese are over.

I remain confused as to why our elected officials accept the premise that the federal government can own or manage ANY land within ANY state, other than that specified in the Constitution: 10 sq miles for DC, military installations, and offices needed for them to operate in. We have some serious re-education to do.

@Happy Clinger, yes we do. I was not aware of that one.

Probably won't know much more till the attendees start talking about it.

It is actually 10 miles square , not 10 square miles . Either way , they are beyond their limits .

Let's see what the states really do. I hope they are successful.

Your states will probably do just as the Feds do with the land. The land should go back to the people.

It would be well to remember that after then events of April 19, 1775 and the following few weeks in and around Boston in the Kings Colony of Massachusetts, it took the politicians in the Continental Congress 16 months to get their ducks in a row. Why would we expect anything better from the politicians in Nevada?

I have seen the people of Cody lick federal boot too many times concerning the management of Yellowstone Park, the wolves and the bears. I suspect they are getting tired of the taste. It's about time...
