Border Patrol agent killed with ATF-smuggled AR? Some ATF agents seem to think so.

Waldo brought this interesting exchange at CleanUpATF.org to my attention. It refers to Border Patrol officer Brian A. Terry, killed in a shoot-out with smugglers near the border at Nogales earlier this month.

This is consistent with rumors within and without the ATF that in order to bump up Operation Gunrunner numbers, the Arizona ATF has been encouraging snitches to buy semi-auto rifles and smuggle them south. As you will read below, there are also reports that one of these rifles was used to kill BP officer Terry.

Understand, this is not Alex Jones saying these things, but ATF street agents appalled at their own management's derelictions of duty and law-breaking.

The thread began with this post from "1desertrat:

"1desertrat" Posted this on 22 December 2010

Word is that curious George Gillett the Phoenix ASAC stepped on it again. Allegedly he has approved more than 500 AR-15 type rifles from Tucson and Phoenix cases to be “walked” to Mexico. Appears that ATF may be one of the largest suppliers of assault rifles to the Mexican cartels! One of these rifles is rumored to have been linked to the recent killing of a Border Patrol Officer in Nogales, AZ. Can anyone confirm this information?

Microscope replies:

Does this surprise anyone? Gillett is and has been operating several levels above his appropriate pay grade for years. Whatever he touches turns to crap. The word on the street is that some huge battle damage is going to hit ATF behind this guy very soon. Was this guns to Mexico the thing that people were talking about? I thought is was something else. If he had a hand in allowing the gun that killed the BP agent to go to Mexico then the s**t is about to hit the fan for ATF. If I was the deceased agents family and this rumor turns out to be true I would bankrupt ATF in a lawsuit (not that money could ever bring back their son or ease their pain). Rest in Peace brother.

"Apostate" replied:

If this is true it really does not surprise me. Incompetent ATF Supervisors' decisions led to the deaths of four ATF agents in Waco. They then tried to cover it up and lied to Congress and still kept their jobs. That culture, regardless of Melson's efforts, still persists today. Again if this is true I am sure there will be another attempt at a cover-up.

RIP Agent Terry. You were a good guy and a great agent. Our sympathies go out to his family

Write your congresscritter and ask when it is that the oversight hearings will begin?

This country's "legal" system will make sure that Border Agent's family NEVER gets access to info on what REALLY happened. They are VERY good at that.

Here's what I know that is not rumor. The agent was shot in the back, while wearing body armor, and the projectile was recovered.

Rumor has it that big sis buzzed thru the area unannounced, in an escorted non-mil blackhawk.

I imagine there's a pretty good size party going on in Mexico.

This is like Watergate. The implications for the entire gun regulation mechanism...
It's also like ... treason.

If it's true that ATF will be rolled up into DHS: Then consider the opportunity this presents-
ATF can be used for some grand shenanigans, and then be re-organized/disbanded.

These guys 'never let a manufactured crisis go to waste'; so ponder the siorts of things ATF could manufacture, as a grand finale.

Oppor-knockity tunes.

Notice how the recent "hair spray" explosion has morphed into explosive primers mysteriously exploding.

Hmmm, how many of us have dealt with hundreds of thousands of primers without an issue -- but lo and behold, a couple of hundred just happen to blow up now.

Maybe, Just Maybe a couple of Border Patrol Agent's can find the time to be at any ATF Oversight Hearing that Might be had in the hopefully near future.

We lose too many B.P. Agents on the Border as it is and I'm sure that Border Patrol would not like the BATF assisting the Cartels/or Associates in their endeavors to gain access to Simi-Auto or Full-Auto Weapons. Not even in a so called Investigation.

Hey, you know if you want to make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs.

I am sure Agent Terry's dying thoughts revolved around his gratitude at being able to be used by the BATFE to further the overall totalitarian agenda.

Anonymous 3:51 sounds like he might just be paranoid enough to make it in these times. Going after reloading components. Of course. "Demonstrating" the SMUGGLING of reloading components is even better. If that flight was headed for California, where a thumbrint will be required to buy ammunition, that would make it a perfect incident for ATF purposes.

Sent the BATFE link to Drudge, Senator McCain (yeah, I know, but when you look at the membership roster for the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs...) and Representative King. We'll see if anyone does anything with it.

It doesn't make a lot of sense if aomeone get hurt and don't even get a justice for what happened. If theres a crime then there must be justice.

I'm glad to see that Gunowners of America jumped on this story and has for the last couple months been working with Sen. Grassley to make sure ATF is held accountable somehow. (Wishful thinking?!?)

GOA sent a letter out to its activist member base to beat the bushes, make a stink and put pressure & heat on the District of Criminals, for what good can be done.

I'm just sick to my gut for BP agent Brian Terry & his family. A guy goes to work to uphold the law, puts on a gun & badge, and gets killed by another agency doing f*cktard idiocy in the name of political correctness. Meanwhile, his family is left to pick up the shattered pieces of a life that will hereafter have a huge hole where Brian used to be.

..Which is why a long time ago I opted NOT to sign on with a federal agency and have contented myself to work at the state level in Indiana. I'm willing to assume certain risks in my work, but I don't want my family to go through what Agent Terry's family has been going through, knowing it was all for nothing, because of some POS bureaucrat's idiocy.

I'll stop here because the more I think about it, the angrier it makes me. 'Nuff said!!
