Immigration and Liberty.

Mr. Williams missuses the term "Libertarian" but he basically gets it. It just angers me that "illegal immigration" is/has been allowed AND encouraged by most of our Congress Critters over the last 50+ years. First rule of war is divide your enemy and conquer each smaller force. Look in the mirror and you will see the problem America.

AZ utility board member responds to LA boycott over SB1070
posted at 2:55 pm on May 18, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
The Los Angeles City Council voted to boycott the state of Arizona over its new immigration-enforcement law, and now the Arizona Corporation Commission has responded. Gary Pierce, one of the commissioners chosen in state-wide elections to the utility regulation panel, notes that Los Angeles gets about 25% of its power from Arizona producers. If the City of Angels really wants a boycott, Pierce offers his services to help, as he explains in a letter to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and copied to Hot Air:

Dear Mayor Villaraigosa,

I was dismayed to learn that the Los Angeles City Council voted to boycott Arizona and Arizona-based companies — a vote you strongly supported — to show opposition to SB 1070 (Support our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act).

You explained your support of the boycott as follows: “While we recognize that as neighbors, we share resources and ties with the State of Arizona that may be difficult to sever, our goal is not to hurt the local economy of Los Angeles, but to impact the economy of Arizona. Our intent is to use our dollars — or the withholding of our dollars — to send a message.” (emphasis added)

I received your message; please receive mine. As a state-wide elected member of the Arizona Corporation Commission overseeing Arizona’s electric and water utilities, I too am keenly aware of the “resources and ties” we share with the City of Los Angeles. In fact, approximately twenty-five percent of the electricity consumed in Los Angeles is generated by power plants in Arizona.
If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation. I am confident that Arizona’s utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands.

If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona’s economy.

People of goodwill can disagree over the merits of SB 1070. A state-wide economic boycott of Arizona is not a message sent in goodwill.

Sincerely,
Commissioner Gary Pierce

California is broke, wouldn't they be "boycotting" Arizona anyway by default?

Or do Arizona businesses take letters saying "The state of California has forgotten its wallet in its other pants" as payment or something?

Bwaaaahahahahahahaha!

There you have it , Folks. Conflation at its finest/most base. Libetard tactics, 101.

No, my fragile little Harlequin...

Forbidding the carrying of firearms is illegal because un Constitutional. See Second Amendment, Bill of Rights, with which you are so obviously unfamiliar or to which you have the typical lefty allergy.

Molon Labe, dipshit.

"Carrying firearms without a permit is wrong because it's illegal."

Do you believe the law is a guide to morality, rather than the other direction? Let's take that for a spin:

Eating at the white folk's lunch counter is wrong because it's illegal.

Practicing Judaism without sewing a star on our clothing is wrong because it's illegal.

Smoking pot recreationally is wrong because it's illegal.

Keeping 100% of the wages we earn is wrong because it's illegal.

"Carrying firearms without a permit is wrong because it's illegal."

Oh-key doh-key...

I don't know where to begin.

Helping slaves escape was once illegal - yet we celebrate the people who did. Thanks for clearing that up -- henceforth I'll be sure to correct everyone by saying "Nope! Harlequin said THAT WAS WRONG!!"

On the other hand, someone of your obvious intellectual gigantism will surely agree that all illegal invaders should be deported -- right? After all, THAT'S THE LAW!

Anyone with the intellectual capacity to blow their nose is aware that - as Mark Twain said - "The Law is an ass!"

If a man shoots a deer out of season to feed his starving children, he's a "poacher" and subject to jail time. Would you REALLY say this man did "wrong"?

On the other hand, if Bill Gates goes hunting during season and with a license - and kills the biggest buck in the forest, saws off its antlers and leaves the rest to rot, he's well within the law.

Bottom line: As Mr. Twain said - the law *IS* an ass, and - frankly - so is any person who uses it to determine right from wrong.

Then there's the simple fact that it is *NOT* illegal in a growing number of jurisdictions - but I'm sure you're already sore enough.

All the foregoing schooling/lambasting of the pathetic waste of skin, Harlequin, is wasted.

Like an untrained puppy, librul asshats visit their neighbors', dump on the carpet a steaming load of nonsense, and flee, to remain untroubled by, you know, like, reality and logic and facts and shit.

Death to Unicorns!
