Off topic, but I thoght you'd be interested, this is the video after a chase in st.paul, mn. it zooms in quite nicely. notice the number of rifles the officers have. is this standard now? very interesting.
The NRA has not been our friend for a long long time. Endorsing the incumbent, no matter their history on gun issues, to warning us about the jack-booted thugs then having "their" version of the Brady Bill passed. A bunch of losers!
It's time folks wave off the NRA because it is clearly corrupt. It OPENLY stands for PREEMPTION OF the Second Amendment by state governments. It OPENLY stands AGAINST privileges and immunities in favor of "due process" demonstrating a FUNDAMENTAL difference between them and us. The NRA essentially believed Rights come FROM government in the form oif qualified permission fee based allowances. It is the biggest and best disguised GUN CONTROL group in this country DUPING literally millions of people.
Wise up folks. The NRA is a tool of government this day and the sooner that is ADMITTED by gun owners the sooner one of two things can happen. First and preferable , it could be cleaned up and fixed - once again becoming the advocate it is billed to be or else it could be abandoned in favor if a REAL advocacy group that ACTUALLY stands and fights for Liberty rather than oppression of it.
This is the theory that the Republican party gives a rat's ass about gun owners, so if we don't elect Republicans we are in trouble. In my opinion, the people who hold this theory will be the first to turn over their guns (and turn in their neighbors) when the confiscation order comes down. There is not a backbone in the lot.
Anon @ 1:22 is absolutely correct; there is a mountain of evidence that proves that the NRA has been and continues to be an enabler of the gun control lobby, if not an actual wolf in sheep's clothing. I do not make this charge lightly; I was once an NRA lifer. I grew dissatisfied with the NRA's failure to defend the 2nd throughout the late 80's and 90's; learned more about the truth behind the NRA in the late 90's to 2004. After having already joined GOA, I decided in 2004 that being a GOA lifer was in order, so that a REAL gun rights organization would have my perpetual support. By 2008 I asked the NRA to take their life membership and stick it, on account of their duplicitous support for the 'veterans disarmament act'. (See http://minutemanpatriot.homestead.com/civil/nonra.html and http://www.keepandbeararms.com/information/XcIBViewItem.asp?ID=3247)
After the NRA's final act of gunowner beytrayal, I insisted that my NRA life membership be terminated yet the NRA persisted in sending me mail appealing for money. I urge thinking gun owners who are serious about defending RKBA to look at how the NRA is simply grasping for gun owners' money as an end of itself.
I used to tell people that the NRA was OK for all of the non-activist stuff like education and competition; and they still do that well. However, their position and stature in this country enables them to sell us out, as national gunowner groups in England and Australia have done. The only way to stop that is to take away their cash cow, their members, and send the NRA down the memory hole. GOA, NAGR and other groups need to be given the rightful support they deserve for doing the pro-gun heavy lifting that the NRA unjustly takes credit for. If GOA had the NRA's budget and membership numbers, I suspect that things in DC and every statehouse in the USA would change for the better.
In short, the NRA does more harm than good and needs to be abandoned by all conscientious gun owners. Of all the pro-gun groups out there, the NRA is the only one that the gun control groups will 'negotiate with' when it comes to 'sitting at the table'. That fact alone tells you all you need to know, and THE NRA HAS BOASTED OF THEIR 'leadership' IN COLLUDING WITH THE GUN GRABBERS IN THE CRAFTING OF PENDING GUN BILLS IN CONGRESS!
