IL state senator would require federal manufacturing license to print gun parts

(T)he bill isn't intended to thwart a single shooting. It's intended only to bolster the fantasy of government control of private firearm ownership. The sooner everyone in government is disabused of that fantasy, the better.

And exactly how is this control-freak semi-communist going to know who has what 3D printer and what they are printing IF the operator doesn't want the .gov to know?
These type people can't leave anyone alone.
Won't be long they'll be dabbling in the toilet inspecting our crap.

I'd like to know how this idiot plans to enforce that! I wouldn't spend a dime in the Peoples Republic of Illinois. The people there are almost as stupid as the sheeple in Massachusetts.

My guess is that they would "license" 3D printers at exorbitant cost, then require government software installed in the controlling computer to report back to nanny what people have printed.

All would be covered by "licensing" fees and the like.

I guess it's time for me to come up with the plans on how to make your own M-3 Grease Gun or Sten Gun. How about home brew Mac-10's for the garage tinkerer? Would anyone like to make their own silencer? Let the GOV stew over that info getting spread out on the internet.
