"Grandiose fantasy?" Keep it up Mikey and you'll find out it is neither.

Baby Steps on Gun Control
"Rep. Mike Thompson, Democrat of California, who is a Vietnam veteran and dedicated deer hunter, told us this morning in a meeting at the Times that he was shocked at how much the gun lobby is now dominated by people who think they need to own the same gun the police or the army has so they can protect themselves against tyranny — a grandiose fantasy."

Yup; Stupid is as stupid does.

To the reporter, "vietnam veteran" somehow rarifies his air. Do I hear McCain's name?

This vet sides with the opinion of the founding fathers. So, there; we've nulled things out.

A Viet Nam vet in the tradition of Quisling Kerry and the the other marxists..
I dont understand the concept of being a Nam vet having anything to do with the concept of Liberty.. thats like using vet status to approve of John Kerry and to say that John McCain is a hero for failing his mission and getting captured and both failures somehow qualify him for this false concept that he is some military mastermind and we are all his fools.. the military has had its share of treason..

I wonder if our "esteemed" California state legislator is a Nam combat vet,or a REMF...he has the attitude of an obedient little REMF; perhaps in charge of keeping the political brass' heads stock with fresh TP.

I thought the same as Trinity and found this from his House webpage on the wayback machine: "He served in combat with the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant/platoon leader with the 173rd Airborne Brigade where he was wounded and received a Purple Heart. He was also an instructor at the Army's Airborne School."
Also turned up this bit that the author neglected to mention: current Chairman of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force
And then there's this in the Washington Post: ...a public discussion with three Democrats who have played leading roles in the gun debate: Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, ... Sen. Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.), ... and Rep. Mike Thompson (Calif.)...
Gosh, I wonder what your stance has to be to get on stage with those other two ninnies. Hmmmm...
