David Codrea: ‘Voice of the Pope’ backs Obama gun edicts
Cristeros hanging from telegraph poles after the Vatican signed a peace accord with the Mexican government selling them out under pain of ex-communication.
From the article: "...“it is necessary to repeat tirelessly our calls for disarmament, to oppose the production, trade, and smuggling of arms of all types."
Talk about dreaming the impossible dream! For so long as we have evil in the world, either individual, collectively or governmental, people will need the ability to defend themselves. Although they begrudgingly almost acknowledge the same later in the article, they're dreaming of creating a perfect society in and of the world almost mirroring the Utopian dreams of their progressive secular partners in disarmament.
Me thinks besides the excellent example of the Church's experience with the Mexican government, they ought to review the success of Neville Chamberlain in securing "peace" with another Fascist regime. dol/lal
I no longer find it strange that the Vatican would come out in support of gun control. They have, throughout the centuries, supported some of the worst policies and agendas imaginable. Notice that they did not even qualify their statement, in an attempt to distance themselves from an administration filled with sodomites, perjurers, mass murderers, anti-Christians and assorted sub-human scum. When it comes to the Vatican, always expect the worst and you will never be disappointed. Ignore that satanic cesspool and move on with real business.
I'm Catholic, and believe the Catholic Church's official teachings on faith and morals to be infallible. But I'm not trying to start a debate about religion.
That being said, there is a difference between official Catholic teaching and the opinion of the Pope. Contrary to popular belief, not everything the pope says is infallible, only teachings regarding faith and morals. Gun control isn't an issue of faith and morals, and the pope didn't speak, a Vatican spokesperson did. It's not surprising considering the sheer number of people in the Vatican who are up to no good.
Catholics are free to believe what they want about gun control, even though some can be, and are, wrong. Heck, St. Gabriel Possenti was a priest, and used a handgun to fight off soldiers who were mistreating the townspeople, and he's a saint!
Finally, official Catholic teaching actually supports the use of "legitimate defense" even if that means having to deal a mortal blow. If you're interested, you can start reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 2264. The word legitimate also implies that the means by which defense is exacted is a proportional response, as in don't bring a knife to a gun fight.

I quit this church when the archbishop in CT stated that I did not need a gun....I might join the Moonies, as they own several gun companies...Or just become an Odinist or something else...
Sorry, but just because someone at the Vatican Radio Station said something does not make it the policy of the Catholic Church, Vatican City or Benedict XVI himself. If you want to discover what the Church teaches, look it up in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. And if the Church is a "satanic cesspool", why did the Cristeros fight against Calles to protect the church? Just a bunch of deluded Mexicans, eh?

In his Encyclical Letter from 1995, EVANGELIUM VITAE, Pope John Paul II writes:
“……Christian reflection has sought a fuller and deeper understanding of what God’s commandment prohibits and prescribes. There are in fact situations in which values proposed by God’s Law seem to involve a genuine paradox. This happens for example in the case of legitimate defense, in which the right to protect one’s own life and the duty not to harm someone else’s life are difficult to reconcile in practice. Certainly, the intrinsic value of life and the duty to love oneself no less than others are the basis of a true right to self-defense.”
He goes on to say:
“…legitimate defense can be not only a right but a grave duty for someone responsible for another’s life, the common good of the family or of the State. Unfortunately, it happens that the need to render the aggressor incapable of causing harm sometimes involves taking his life. In this case, the fatal outcome is attributable to the aggressor whose actions brought it about, even though he may not be morally responsible because of a lack of the use of reason.”
Pope John Paul II knew exactly what happens when innocents are disarmed, having lived under both Nazism and communism. He did not believe in disarming citizens and neither does the Catholic Church, this spokesperson’s personal opinion notwithstanding.

The junction where the infallibility of the pope meets the story of the emporer with no clothes/
What do you expect from the post-Vatican II Church? Pius XII is probably spinning in his grave.
What we need is another Urban II!
I would have thought the pope would be too busy keeping priests from buggering little boys...

I'm guessing the Vatican believes they have conquered Evil...so no worries.
Re: Trinity
It's always been a point of bitter amusement to me that the UN monument to gun control was a revolver with a knot in the barrel.
If they were serious about reducing gun violence, it'd be an AK-47.
I -think- MKV originally said as much, but I cannot remember.
