Wow. That was something else. Now sitting up in a chair beside my bed in ICU. Wow. One of dressings is leaking, but incision is solid. Lungs are clear. Comments are released. Some emails deleted. Typing with this beast balanced on my cheat with all these tubes is exhausting. Gotta go for now. God bless you all.
LATER: By the way. the growth was three lobed, 15 cm long, attached to esophagus, stomach and pancreas.

Nice to see you back Mike. Take it slow and easy (yeah right, who am I kidding)
Now that your 10 pds of alien infestation lighter, you'll be in even better fighting form then you were before.
I wonder how many in DC are muttering under their breath "Damn, that old SOB made it" when instead they should be lacing up their running shoes and gettin...
Now don't be drippin and all over the keyboard, you know how balky that laptops been...
Thumbs up.
Heya Mike,
Good to see you back in circulation. :D

Very glad to see your post. Go easy.
Welcome back! Congrats on staying this side of the grass. Get out of that germ infested place as soon as you can.

I personally found out through an abdominal surgery that a 12 inch wide elastic abdominal binder wrapped around my midsection helped to keep my upper torso from sliding off of the bottom half of my body into the floor. Without the binder, the sensation was just as described. Of course your doctor would need to aprove such a simple device, but it made sitting up on the edge of the bed and walking the hospital floors much easier. Plus the stitches don't feel so much like they are about to rip out.
Happy to see your post.

Be still, old man. Wait for some of those cute young things to help you. Push the morphine button early and often. Don't fall out of bed!
Let your helpers help you. Let the girls give updates periodically. Drainage is good, they'll seal you up when it's time. Being bored is good. Bored means that really bad things are not happening.
Cheers.
God Bless...
Very good to hear something from you.
Anything, in fact.
Use the bedside table, Mike... at least until you quit dripping. :)
Glad to see that none of the P&V parts were excised with the beast.
But yes, relax a little and get well. Let David and others tote the load for a little longer.
I've been an operating room nurse since 1990 and know full well what went on in the OR and about your recovery requirements.
To say "it ain't easy" is a gross understatement.
My recommendations, follow the recovery therapeutic regiment precisely.
If you have any questions, let me know.
Good luck.
God bless, glad to hear it went well, stay in isolation and rest/recover as long as possible.
Good to see you're still with us. Drain all those bags they hang on you, you're paying the big bucks for them.
God Bless ya, Mike. Hang tough. We're all still here keeping an eye on things while you're rehabbing. Gather your strength, there's a BIG fight in front of all of us. We need ALL hands on deck for this one.
Prayers for you and your kin!!

This is the one time in your life when you're ENCOURAGED to be stoned.
Enjoy it.
Well, you know what I mean.
Besides, the time passes faster when you're oblivious. At least it did for me when it was my turn to enrich the medical-pharmaceutical complex.
Glad you're still with us!
It is a great relief to know you are alive and kicking Mr. Mike!
God Bless you
I'm still praying for you and your family. Good to see you posting again, but do take it easy.
Our love & prayers are with you, Mike
Was that thing benign? Are you finished with this mess?
Welcome back, you old codger.

Unfortunately for Mike, his nurse is just as likely to be an old bald dude... like me :-)
Mike:
Prayers continue, bro. Get up as you can, breathe deep, and hold the pillow tight.
Mike, I have been praying for you since the getgo, and the Good Lord has been watchin' yer six. Get better soon, my friend.
Welcome back big daddy.

Praise God, and take it easy

Glad you are through it! Take it easy and recover fully!
Glad you're back!
Mike,
Did you name it? My dad had a growth removed from his neck when he was young, and kept it in a small jar of formaldehyde. When we were kids, he told us it was his Frankenstein knot. He told us a lot of stuff that was horsehockey.
You should name yours Morris.
Good to see you back ! Don't try to catch up all at once. Ken's right - get out of that hospital as soon as possible. You're better off in your own home.

I'm keeping you in my prayers.
I am thanking the Lord that you came throught the operation OK. I have been praying for you daily and will continue to do so.
Mike: I am glad you are o.k. I had a 7cm cyst on my pancreas and the pain was excruciating. We cannot afford to lose a voice like yours at a time like this. Udaman
