A tip of the boonie hat to "Mad Bob," commander of the fabled hardcore but shadowy Alabama constitutional militia formation known as the Dogtown Rangers, who signs his emails "MOS 1372." He just drew my attention to this story out of California.
Mad Bob's comment?
"Hell, Mike, that sumbitch musta been hongry. And they wonder why our side's starting to pack heat at these turdfests?"
Indeed.

Finger Bitten Off During Health Protest
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Sept. 3) -- One man bit off part of another man's finger when a health care reform demonstration turned violent.
William Rice said doctors did not reattach the bitten-off part of his left pinky after he got in the middle of a Southern California rally Wednesday night that he said was "very scary."
"I didn't go out to demonstrate my beliefs, I happened to be driving by and I stopped to ask people what their purpose was," Rice, 65, said in a telephone interview Thursday. "I had no signs, I was not part of the demonstration."
About 100 demonstrators in favor of health care reform had gathered on a Thousand Oaks street corner for an event organized by MoveOn.org. About 25 counterdemonstrators gathered across the street.
Rice declined to say Thursday which side of the debate he falls on.
Ventura County sheriff's spokesman Eric Buschow said a confrontation erupted after the biter crossed from the MoveOn.org side of the street to the counterprotest, where Rice was standing.
A loud scuffle ensued, punches were thrown, and the tip of Rice's finger was bitten off, Buschow said.
The biter fled before authorities arrived. He could face felony mayhem charges.
"We don't know the identity of the man who bit the finger off," Buschow said. "We want to contact him and get his side of the story."
Buschow said authorities are piecing together the events from witness interviews.
There are conflicting accounts of who started the fight, Buschow said. "There's a question about blurring the line between self-defense and who the primary aggressor was," he said.
Rice was treated at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center. The top joint of his pinky, including his whole fingernail, was severed, hospital spokeswoman Kris Carraway-Bowman said.
She said his treatment was covered by Medicare.
Rice said he and his attacker did not have a conversation about health care unless "you want to call him screaming in my face that I'm an idiot a conversation."
MoveOn.org spokeswoman Ilyse Hogue said in a written statement that the incident is a "regrettable act of violence" but the group had few facts about the situation.
The group is in favor of health care reform that includes a "public option" providing government-sponsored insurance.
Scuffles and noisy protests over the proposed health care overhaul have broken out at recent town hall meetings hosted by members of Congress across the country.

I guess he can join the Yakuza now.
In all seriousness, a little OC goes a long way.

Whoever the biter was he will probably be appointed as Czar of Finger Lickin' Good when Obama take over the fast food industry. The Administration really needs people that no one can point fingers at.
MOS 1372 is the Marine Corps MOS for "Atomic Demolition Employment Technician". If his call sign is true to what he used to do (or currently does in the USMC), he worked with backpack nukes, called officially as "Atomic Demolition Munitions". Very interesting....
Funny thing about Atomic Demolition Munitions, there were two different sizes when I worked on them, they were both re-purposed warheads. The "backpack" nuke (SADM) was originally used on the "Davy Crockett" missile. There's something seriously wrong about giving a 2nd LT. nuclear capabilities.
Army MOS 55G20, obsoleted when the USSR fell apart and the Army surrendered its tactical nukes.

I have also heard of instances where opponents to socialized medicine were blocked by obamabots from entering town halls, as in blocked at the sidewalk and prevented from even approaching the building.
The answer there is to press on, press in, and if they lay hands on you, the fight's on. Otherwise, you have given up your right to assemble and to petition your government for a redress of grievances.
Folks, if you are going to such an event, bring along a few strapping, strong young men who know how to throw down, just in case.
But even if you don't have that kind of muscle, as Eric said, a little OC goes a long way. Same for steel toed boots and apparently, a good set of thick, armored SWAT entry gloves might not be a bad idea either.
"Eaters" are the new Zombies.
I will not be a meal.
Cheers.
My pinkie, my pinkie, my kingdom for a pinkie but I guess he has that terrible Medicare a “Single-payer health care insurance” what a hypocrite. Did the little pinkie cry "Wee-wee-wee!" all the way home (or I should say “Fake News”)? It real should have been his right pinky finger that would have been a better story. He takes two punches and (as usual) tries to shove something down someone’s throat and gets his pinkie bitten off, now he plays victim. They are haters not debaters.
So, Paul, the fingerless person here is the hater? "Takes two punches", tries to defend himself, and you're OKAY with the attacker biting *off* a finger?
I do attempt to refrain from calling people insane, but in this case I believe an exception can be made.
Some seniors revert to children, its part of the aging process (I guess he forgot to “Keep your hands to yourself”). In the Neil Cavuto, interview he is a protestor but now they are trying to change the fact and say that he just innocent bystander. Now the wingnuts have a new idol to worship, a new hero. Please, snore, snore.
All we have here is one side to the story, like many other immature men he just used physical violence because he was not able to articulate his position or use his brain to avoid one, never had the misfortune to be in a brawl myself, I only pity this man who felt the need to bunch his hand into someone’s mouth, so now all of you can claim he is something of a innocent victim. Walking away takes maturity some men have it others do not. What a pity.
He is trying to expand healthcare to everyone, so we do not have to pay the crazy prices for emergency room care, which all of us pay anyway. I agree with Montana, especially her pointing out that the old guy could have defused and controlled the situation by simply moving away but he seem very happy content with the attention and outcome. Could it be he wanted to be the new idol to be worship, a new hero whose poster will be going up in wingnuts closets around the country? Or it could be he just wanted others to claim he was a victim and be on TV (he was quick to run to “Fake News”).
