That didn't take long. Here they come. "If you thought the cultural purge over the Confederate flag was breathtaking -- wait until you see what LGBT activists do with Christians."
I cannot really believe that Americans are not only surrendering without a fight tot he Communist Collectivists, but are going to crawl before the LGBT 2% and lick their boots out of FEAR of Political Correctness....
I can't believe I woke up in my fathers country we no longer own...Some quotes from the Founding Fathers were not meant to be prophecy, but unfortunately have bcome just that...Sign me Neal Jensen
The simple answer if for Churches to abandon their "special" relationship with the federal government and pay taxes like every one else. Then they will have the freedom to express any political sentiment with out legal repercussions..
On the other hand, if churches were paying taxes they would be free to take political stands. It is true that this would open up churches to more persecution, but that is what it is all about anyway, isn't it? "If they persecuted me they will persecute uou." The fact that there are no Christians in prison merely for being christian isn't a witness of our freedom, it is an indictment of our lack of Christian action. Perhaps we need a good kick in the ass.
This is fear mongering from two conservative writers and a reasonable what-if from a more liberal writer regarding church tax exemptions (which is not protected, regardless of gay rights). No gay or lib organizations here lobbying against christians. Christians always think they're going to get 'purged'. A little tiring.
Mike, I've believed for years that churches ought to stop taking the tax exemption. It dilutes their preaching and makes them subject to the government.
Involuntary taxation is theft.....when are you people going to wake up to that fact? If I stick a gun in your chest and demand 30% of what's in your wallet, you call that theft....yet when the government does *the same thing*, we simply call it taxation.
Fairtax.org....get familiar with how a truly fair and voluntary tax would work, repealing all other taxes, including those on business, thereby stimulating the economy and changing our consumerist mindset to one of quality, American made goods....a system that large swaths of economists have said WILL work to rejuvenate our economy, shrink our government and give us all more liberty.
Taxation and churches would not even be an issue under the Fair Tax....and ALL religious groups would be able to speak freely....just what the 1A is supposed to be about.
Get your heads right guys....the fault does not lie with churches who seek a tax loophole....it is with a corrupt tax system and an overreaching government hell bent on limiting free speech and exercise of basic human rights. Rather than attack allies, let us concentrate on the real enemy: bloated, power hungry government
Sadly, most churches have earned what's coming. They were only too happy to hand off all of their charitable work to the government. With the benefit, comes the burdens.
Absolutely. While I prefer the Churches be left alone, I am coming to believe they need this fight. And their congregations need to be made uncomfortable again. Perhaps it will revitalize them.
Some may roll over but others will not. Collectivists goons have not read their history. I don't think they quite understand what some people are willing to do to practice their faith.
Churches need to get off the Gubmint teet. Quit excepting Gov. handouts,They'll find Gov. don't have a hold on em any more. Oh Wait! 1st Amendment freedoms are back. Your welcome. Taz, FL
I agree, those true believers should fall off the radar, as many others should. Hold your services out of the reach of government. Like many of us already seeing the writing on the wall, it is another way of "going galt". But, that doesn't mean disappear. There are many ways to use the saved money to give the collective a headache they can't ever seem to squash. Make them have to play the game of attempting to "wack a mole", to drain their resources.
Of course the fact that BLACK RUN CHURCHES have been openly politicking for democomms for decades is different... some animals are mo special than other animals, doncha know.
Those calling for the end of the tax exemption don't realize that it's in place to protect the government from the church. There are about 16 Million Catholics and 12 14 million other Christian churches. Imagine all of these organizations working tirelessly taking politics as an extension of their duties to the church. Week after week and year after year, and their afraid of the NRA?! They haven't seen anything yet, just keep pushing!

Bring it on. We've survived nearly 2000 years of the world's hatred. Let the haters dash themselves to pieces against our Rock.
