Am I the only one thoroughly disgusted that civilian POLICE were used to lockdown and sweep the building? This attak occured on a US naval installation, and instead of a few Marine platoons storming the building, they let a bunch of wannabe commandos dressed in their sparkly new combat gear deal with the situation. I guess obama does 't trust the military with guns any more than he trusts civilians.
Obviously this young man is a modern-day Marine. He should have shown some initiative and squirreled away a couple of boxes of Green Tip just for such an emergency. When I was on active duty in the Army, I always had a small stash for field maneuvers. I never touched it with my bare hands to avoid fingerprints. When I was an MP,I always carried an extra loaded magazine even though we were only issued five .45acp rounds. A smart soldier/marine looks out for himself/herself and knows how to game the system.
This has been going on a long time. Say what you want about Air Force cops, but back in the day we used to pick on the MPs because we had either 30 rounds of 9mm on us with one in the chamber, or 210 rounds of 5.56 with a loaded magazine inserted, and they had squat. Half of them didn't believe we actually had ammo on us until we removed the magazine to show them.
