Wow, I didn't even know that Booth killed a minority. What race was Lincoln? All the old paintings make him look like a white guy, but admiring a white guy's killer doesn't make you look like a bigot.
"Some Republicans are accusing the party’s neoconservative hawks of playing dirty pool in an attempt to smear Sen. Rand Paul as a bigot for having an aide who once expressed admiration for Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth."
Why ease him out over that? B/c ever since the media played the "Rand is a racist" card when he first ran for office, making him back peddle over his stance on the right of businesses to serve whomever they choose (regardless of race) in contradiction to the Civil Rights Act...he's been on the defensive from charges of "racism".
This is a FAR stretch...but Rand is a politician trying to distance himself from the label as much as possible.
Unfortunately, I don't think most of Amerika is ready for true libertarian thought....be it "conservatives" or "liberals"....both are actually just statists who only really believe in the power of the state used for things they agree with....like stopping gay marriage and imperialism on one side and social programs and wealth redistribution on the other. Neither side actually believes in true freedom to decide for oneself, nor do they believe in minding their own business.
I believe Rand likely holds true libertarian ideals....yet cannot say it in public as it would instantly alienate his mostly "conservative" voting block.
Hopefully more people will wake up to the truth that we are being enslaved by our two party system and the only way out is using founding principles of liberty for all as a guide. The answer lies in neither party at this point.

Ok, so the aide "advocated the Southern states secede once again from the union."
So what? They say that like it's a bad thing. Why would Rand Paul "ease him out" over that?
