If you had told me even a month ago that I would be mirroring an ad from the DNC while praying for an Obama veto, I'd have said you were crazy.

Senate defies Obama veto threat in terrorist custody vote.

Defying a veto threat by President Obama, the Senate voted Tuesday to give the U.S. military first crack at holding al Qaeda operatives, even if they are captured in the U.S. and are American citizens, and also reaffirmed the policy of indefinite detention.

“We’re no longer going to have an absurd result that if we capture you overseas where you’re planning an attack on the United States, we can blow you up or put you in a military prison indefinitely, but if you make it to America, all of a sudden you get Miranda rights and you go to federal court,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican who has fought the Bush and Obama administrations on treatment of suspected terrorist detainees.

Tuesday’s 61-37 vote to buck Mr. Obama and grant the military dibs exposed a deep rift within the Democratic Party. Sixteen Democrats and one independent who caucuses with them defied the veto threat and joined 44 Republicans.


Does anybody here seriously think that there is anything in this bill preventing the Obama White House from having the military kidnap troublesome guys like me, secretly, in the dead of night, putting black hoods on our heads, and taking them off to Guantanamo, without hearing or trial? Nothing will prevent it except one thing: the copper-jacketed promise that if the rule of law no longer obtains then the rule of the rifle has obviously begun. Unintended consequences? Perhaps. Stupid? Certainly. Possible? Oh, yes.

So while I'm praying for an Obama veto, I might as well post an ad from the Democratic National Committee on Windsock Mitt Romney:

Right! We are now in a true police state, with the military ignoring posse comitatus and having free range all over this nation. Maybe we'll all meet up in a FEMA death camp somewhere.

Well, that's it for me. I've seen everything now. I fully believe our government has now crossed the line in the sand. Mark my words. The citizens of this country have now become the enemy, and it's only a matter of time before they start filling the FEMA camps. Lord help us.
Today is the beginning of the New Paradigm. There is NO America anymore. Zilch. Zero. And it doesn't matter WHO is in the Whitehouse from this day forward.

Furthermore, I'll eat my words if Obama veto's this bill. If his history while in the Whitehouse is any indication, he will embrace this bill like stink on shit.

Fast an Furious is a joke now. They can use these Sections to circumvent the Second Amendment if not the entire Constitution. Good bye America.

The only thing I can add is Jefferson's words are echoing in my brain today.

"The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it."

I mentioned somewhere else that a veto would be Obama's first good move as President. Anybody really think he will?
My bet is that he bellyaches about the Republicans making him do it, and then signs it anyway.

That was essentially my thought when I saw this... I can't believe I actually agree with him, this bill can't pass, when it does it is an open declaration of war.
I have little faith that it won't pass, and even less that Obama will actually veto it. Something like this gives him exactly what he wants... "legal" authority to make anyone disappear anytime anyplace.
We're fucked.

Not only did the Obama "administration" write these provisions, Levin clarified WHO, and ONLY who can claim an American citizen is a "terrorist"...Obama of course. So, here we are. The President has, not only the authority to claim an American citizen is an "enemy combatant, with no right to due process and can be held indefinitely, but the right to KILL an American citizen with no due process as well.

What more can be said, except... we now have a KING, who in one fell swoop, has burned not only the Constitution ...but the Magna Carta as well.


Lord help us all. They have now codified a criminal government into a LEGAL criminal government.

Me thinks Jefferson was right.

"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first."

Unfortunately, he underestimated how evil future congressional cockroaches could be.

I called the offices of both Sessions and Shelby yesterday expressing my concern that parts of the Act were more than a little bit questionable when it came to protecting the Constitutional rights of American citizens. I urged them to support the Udall or Rand Paul amendment (preferably the Paul amendment because it would have stripped out the scary Section 1031 stuff). Seriously, the Dems have called Tea Party activists terrorists. I certainly don't relish the thought of a HMMWV pulling up in my driveway to take me away because someone didn't care for my Tyranny Response Team bumper sticker.

This is absolute insanity.

The bad news is that this legislation overturns a 133 year-old law; the good news is that it will require the fedgov to repatriate everyone who is stationed overseas to enforce it, and those among them who bear true faith and allegience to the US Constitution will be on our side.

This is FAR more serious than an outright gun ban and open confiscation.

Essentially, the bill removes the check and balance of the court system. Those arrested and incarcerated/killed will never see the light of day....they will just disappear with no day in court, no public trial, no media coverage and zero chance at justice.

If this is signed into law, there can be no clearer case of causus belli.

This is so serious as to erase our stated premise of "No Fort Sumters". This is an open declaration of war on the people of this country.

Do we really need to wait for them to start gathering us up before we fight back? How will we even know? It will start slowly at first and likely with people deemed "terrorists" by our complicit media....if it gets reported at all.

Look how little the MSM is covering this bill when it is tantamount to destroying the entire Bill of Rights.

The cold Civil War is about to go hot.

Dear Governor Romney,

Be advised I take no pleasure in what I must do here. But for the sake of this nation it must be done. Your people have no doubt seen the polls that show Bachman going quickly to number 2 . . . What do you think Palin will do to you as she draws an even greater contrast?

It is obvious to any Tea Partier or The New Republican Party, which is really the old Republican Party, Lincoln's Party, that you do not represent those values that we hold dear. You get an A for effort on every front. But we are wise to the act of not providing the American people a choice in Presidential elections. We are tired of that con game and want it to end. We know that they day will never come when politicians such as yourself will one day wake up and do the right thing no matter the political consequences, that is a fantasy, but if the Palin emails show one thing it is that this lady has no concern for that political clap trap, in fact she is just the opposite of it all.

Essentially what we are looking for in a candidate is zero doubt. We want to know that the next President will act in our interests and not in theirs. We want to be certain that the next President is doing everything humanly possible to rocket our economy from what it is now to what we know it could be, even if she has to pardon every taxpayer for one year from the tax laws. We want to be certain that she will unabashedly promote and teach those ideals that have made America the greatest nation on the face of the Earth bar none. We want a President that is going to get us back to the moon and keep us there, permanently. We want a President who is going to drop all of the pretense and not just make the right choices but have the charisma to carry the torch of liberty forward.

Mr. Romney my bathroom has a device called a mirror. I know that when I look in it that I could never be President. Even though I love dogs, I probably could not get elected dog catcher, but I’m certain that you must realize that you do not possess that spark that Palin does, even Bachman. It was something she was born with and her family fostered into what it is. You are a good and noble man. Of this I have little doubt. But the fact is between you and Obama there is no daylight by your actions. When you had the chance you have done at the state level exactly what Obama has done and is working towards.

Other than economically and then only at the margins.

All that being said. I will as a voter meet my obligation to those who have died so I could vote and you could run for office in a mostly free country, you can’t call a nation free if an airport screener has the right to feel my testicles without getting socked in the nose. I will do this because they did not die so I could sit home and not make a choice, I will meet that obligation and cast my ballot for you if that day comes. Prior to that I will do everything in my power to make it so Governor Palin is the nominee of the Republican Party.

We need four more years of Bush Obama or George Romney like I need a new case of hemorrhoids.
