Man...I read some of the comments from this article, I never realized we had so many swipes in this country. Compromise is an art learned in law school. Get the lawyers out of anything political.

What I see in the Super Congress proposal is an admission that House and Senate rules are set up to make passage of good legislation impossible.

They intend to cure the underlying problems of committees, amendments, riders, etc by having a small oligarchy determine which bills are too important to subject to the farce that we call the legislative process.

If the usual bullshit isn't good enough for the bills that they want to send to 'Super Congress', why is the usual bullshit good enough for all other legislation?

Scary... This 'super' congress does NOT bode well, if they pull this off, what's next???

After reading this, I would have to agree with anyone who were to advocate sticking politicians with knives who vote for this take-over of our US Constitution. I think a good place to start is the Socialist Congressional group. Just my own opinion (and I am probably not alone).

Yes, they are.

Excellent idea except for one silly little problem. Not exactly that little, really. I took my kids to see it at the National Archives when we were in DC. If I recall it measures about 20" x 20". You can't miss it. It's the one under glass that says "We the People" in enlarged script right across the top where you can't miss it.

I remember haveing to read a copy of it in school. Funny thing is that I don't remember it mentioning anything about a "super congress".

We have to start with our own beloved congresscritters who bring home the pork every session. We need men who can read plain writing and vote no most of the time, which is a NO for legislation/powers not authorized for the federal gov't in the US Constitution. A YES vote can be counted on to bestow honors on heroes and true friends of the United State wherever they might be.

If I were to run for Congress, I would promise to be present for every vote humanly possible and vote no on every one that I had not read, do not understand completely, or suspect is contrary to the intrest of the people of the United States. I furthermore would promise to come home every other year no more wealthy than from money I have saved from my salary by living in a $1500 travel trailer parked somewhere cheap.

A "super congress" would be completely unlawful, because it bypasses representation of all of the people. Only an Amendment to the US Constitution would allow such an abortion to exist lawfully, as was done for the Income Tax before WWI.

Cheers.

A Super Congress, by this description, is more like a committee with greater weight than before. I don't mind committees, as long as the run of the mill congressmen have all their powers intact. No amendments? That's plain wrong.

If they want to streamline things, cut out all amendments that are not significantly related to the legislation.

I'm usually not one for excessive vulgarity online, but...

Oh, FUCK NO!

6 from each house/6 from each party, no amendments, "fast-tracking" bills, etc?

These motherfuckers are trying to set up a system whereby the 2 parties (2 branches of The Government Party) run the damn country and all the other reps/sens just ...

Oh FUCK no!

Line.
Sand.

Seriously, people! - if they do this, the Fed.gov ballot-box is unquestionably d-e-a-d-DEAD!

No Fucking WAY!

OldNFO: What's next?

If it's not a "RTC Gathering" of a hundred-thousand ARMED Patriots at the Capitol-Building, I'd have to say "TEOTWAWKI", personally!

Seriously - this is about as far as they go without LITERALLY wiping their @$$ with the - original, National-Archives, Vellum copy - Constitution, Live, on TV and telling anyone who has a problem with that to get stuffed.

These people really are INSANE!

This is not a simple step over the line in the sand.
This is a full scale jump over the line and needs to find the landing very very rough.

And where did all that Stimulus money go? Right into their Marxist and friends of Marxists re-election coffers. And who's going to get that money? The Marxist media of course.

Money stolen from the American people by Marxists for Marxists benefiting a Marxists takeover. Even if they call it and themselves, something else.

The pebbles were rattling in the cans over two years ago, we just couldn't hear them because the media was making so much noise. They did a good job and are still smiling about it! They're getting ready to do it again with lots of tax dollars in their pocket this time!

The Marxist slogan should be " Power to the people, as long as we have all their money and propety."

"Hey maybe chevy will start making Zils!"

Their Lordstown plant produced two that came close: The Chevy Vega and divisional clones followed by the Chevy Monza and its respective clones.

POS in both cases.

Those clowns didn't go broke because of bad luck. They went broke due to telling their customers what they wanted to buy, then selling them junk wrapped in an American flag.

My '80 Monza started falling apart before I finished getting the dealer stickers off the window.

That "Firesign Theater" button sure brought back some memories. A midnight movie double feature in Gainesville, FL. featuring "Reefer Madness" followed by a flick by Firesign Theater that consisted of a 12" high rubber Godzilla kicking its way throught someone's HO train layout with a voiceover of the talking heads of the day commenting on Nixon's Watergate shennegans. Where are they when you really need them?

We're all Bozo's on this bus!
