Overslept.

"Well it's a nice, soft night, so I think I'll go and join me comrades and talk a little treason." -- Michaleen Flynn in The Quiet Man, 1952.
I have to be in a nearby county early this morning to talk a little treason to the Empire and I intend to scavenge brass in the predawn darkness on the way there (early bird gets worm). I am working on a series of posts wrapping up the year and comparing 1774-1775 to 2014-2015. Hope to have the first of those later today. Sorry I overslept.

I am looking forward to your insights. I have been bouncing comparisons of the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, and other events of the past around in my head.
I am trying to figure out which part of history we are repeating.

Don't apologize for sleeping. It is a blessing to get it when you can.

I saw "The Quiet Man" the other day and paid pretty good attention this time. There are some good lines in it, aside from the one you quoted above. The first (or second) time Dannaher challenged Thornton to a fight set, in the bar, had a good one. "If you count three, you'll never hear the man count ten." I got that right off the bat.

There were a few places in and near Cong that we knew from our trip to Ireland. I'm not sure but that the tavern in which many scenes were set is one in which we ate. I don't recall the menu, but I do remember the food was good.

They're proud of their meat in Ireland. You see signs everywhere "We proudly serve beef, (pork, fowl, whatever) raised in Ireland.

I don't think we had a bad meal in the whole country.

I agree with one or more of the three "Anonymous" posters who said:

Thanks for all you do.

We had the equivalent of "The Powder Alarm." That seemed to have started after Sandy Hook and still seems to be going (.22 shortage).
