Creeping collectivist nanny state strikes again.
Your tax dollars at work.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has mandated that all consumers in the United States must purchase at least 4 gallons of gasoline when they go to the gas station, if they are getting fuel from a pump that also offers a new E15 ethanol-gasoline blend.
The Obama administration wants consumers to use more of the E15 fuel – a blend that contains 15 percent ethanol – but the problem is that many gas stations use blender pumps, which offer several types of fuel and, after pumping, there always is a residual amount of fuel in the hose. E15 fuel can potentially damage engines made prior to 2000 and it cannot be used in motorcycles, ATVs, and many other engines, such as lawn mowers and boat engines.
So, to circumvent the potential problems, the EPA is requiring a 4-gallon minimum from blender pumps to ensure that any E15 fuel residue is diluted. (Stations that provide a completely separate, single hose for E15 only are exempt from the rule.)
But many lawmakers, as well as motorcycle and off-road specialists, say the EPA rule is not a viable solution and that requiring people to buy a minimum of 4 gallons of gasoline is not acceptable.

What a waste of perfectly good ethanol. I hate the government.
My motorcycle doesn't even have a 4 gallon tank.
While admittedly individual mandates such as this EPA pronouncement may seem like a "creeping" action, taken in total with all of the new mandates pouring out of the District of Clowns, coupled with those on state and local levels, we are speeding at terminal velocity toward a fatal encounter with the proverbial brick wall.
What is amazing to me is how the sheeple, Boobus Americanus, views America as still a free land embracing individual liberty and justice for all. In place of God given rights and liberty, the sheeple are content with the false belief that all rights are granted by -- and therefore can be restricted or eliminated -- the government.
It just goes to prove that if you repeat a lie often enough people will believe it...there is no god but the man made god of government and all worship, all obedience, should be directed that deity.

It's not a mandate... it's a tax.
The Law of Unintended Consequences applies here.
Fill your 1 or 2 gallon tank, and pour the rest onto the ground or in the nearest storm sewer. Share with everyone !
Let the EPA worry about what happens next.
With half of our normal corn production missing this year, it shouldn't matter... Even our government can't be insane enough to continue the "must use ethanol" mandate when there isn't enough corn for human and animal feed.
Or could they?
The EPA can kiss my backside.
I hope this ruling sticks. I hope the EPA comes out with even more draconian regulations, at least one a week. That is the only way we will progress from mere annoyance, to highly pissed, to active rage. Happily, we know we are beyond the point where debate and discussion can make a difference. If watching different executive branch leadership, make speeches and interviews on TV, can be used as a measuring stick, they will not even know when they crossed a line in the sand. No one will be more shocked than them, when they have provided the formula for revolt.
Typical bureaucrat 'solution' to a problem that should not exist.
anon. @ 1:14PM - my motorcycle has a 4.1 gallon tank - according to said bureaucrats I guess I should coast into my local fuel depot in order to make sure I get the full 4 gallons that they have mandated.
My car has an 11 gallon tank - I will sometimes top off the tank (less than the mandated 4 gallons) prior to departing for a trip.
How long will it before their mandate becomes a 'law'???
Good thing I bought an electric lawn mower last year otherwise I'd have had to get a goat. Of course even THAT wouldn't have been all bad - I love barbecued cabrito (young goat).
I sold my car and got a bicycle, so the only thing I need gas for is the lawn mower. Hmmmm. Should have bought an electric lawn mower too! Oh, well, I guess I can buy big gas cans and store up fuel for the lawn mower to meet that 4 gallon minimum. Gas will also make nice molotov cocktails when the civil war starts.
