The Gray Man in the Data Mining Age. "Let the Plotters plot and let the Free men be free."

I sent this link around to some folks I care about for their reactions: How Companies Learn Your Secrets. Here's one that I agree with entirely:
The "Gray Man" idea is pure codswallop. No one is a "gray man" in the information age. The sooner people get that and just act like free men the better off they will be. . . It does not matter a damn if the Skull and Bones Society wants to kill your mama. Let the Plotters plot and let the Free men be free.

It's amazing what you can accomplish when you just don't give a shit the freedom of others and the constitution.

I was wondering how easy it would be to create a completely fictitious persona online,I asked a friend who is a senior IT security admin who said it is very easy.He referenced the "fake Steve Jobs". He said by using a tor server to ensure anonymity , encryption to protect confidential messages, and prepaid credit cards you can easily create a fake online persona. The methods used to track information could possible be used to create misinformation. The collecting of information is one thing but the analysis and turning it into useful product is the difficult part. The more information collected doesn't mean a clearer picture either. As for "grey" if you don't buy stuff online, use false ID, Throw away cell phones, move frequently, use cash for all transactions etc your grayer then most I'd think. Momma used to say-Where there is a will there is a way.Just some food for thought.

Well, that's what lying and keeping quiet about your business to strangers is for. You'd be amazed how well that works.

Feel like checking something out? Look up the "My Lowe's" program now in progress. Lowe's has figured out that if they know everything you buy, they can detect what you need and when you'll need it. This includes everything Lowe's sells. What color paint did you use last year for your living room? Lowe's can tell you what color and how many gallons you used, plus what brushes and rollers you used.

And anyone who hangs on-line already knows about places like Amazon. The more you use a credit card, the more data they have on you. And it is next to impossible to pay using only cash. And remember that using cash is a tip-off that you may be a terrorist.

Freedom means bartering and staying off-line, things that most of us are ill-prepared to do.

I don't think I will be gray. I will be either black or white. I will choose. I will not run. I will not hide. I will die standing on my own two feet. I will face what ever comes my way, head on. I will stand my ground. Enough.

I tend to beleive if you don't buy stuff online and use cash for transactions you stick out like a sore thumb.
