The ORIGINAL gathering place for a merry band of Three Percenters. (As denounced by Bill Clinton on CNN!)

Sorry, I've been off the web for a day -- more health issues.
Yesterday afternoon I rearranged my kneecap on my right (good) leg without prior approval or expert advice. After that I couldn't negotiate the steps that lead downstairs to my computer. Worst pain I've had since my kidney stone. Strangely, I could still rest my weight on the leg without too much pain, but when I lifted it to take a step, or even tried to lay on my side in bed, whoa, momma! Only slept last night with the help of some hydrocodone left over from a dentist's prescription 2 years ago. Went to a doc-in-the-box this morning and he made the diagnosis, admitted his inability to do anything about it and referred me to an orthopedic specialist on Monday. Great timing, of course, with the NRA thingee coming up. Don't ask me how it happened exactly. Must have been my ex-wife and her voodoo doll again. Or not.
Will let you know how things go Monday.
If it ain't one thing, 'tis another. Of course the ATF would be celebrating if I broke my hands and couldn't use a keyboard at all. As it is, I'm still a fairly dangerous man, beat up and temporarily broken that I am.
Too bad, Gunwalker men. Too bad.

Break your hands and I'll personally buy you voice dictation software.
Can't stop the signal, Mal.
There are two in this house who've had knees re-built.
Excellent results with both.
I've got to admit to feeling all hot and sweaty, and not in a pleasant way, thinking about injured knees.
Good luck with the Doc.
There are only 2 things in my life that have brought me to my knees, God and a kidney stone. God is still working on me and I don't drink the tap water anymore.
Looks like you are in for an operation. Sounds like the same thing that happened with my wifes knee.
Keep up the good fight and we are praying for you.
If, after age 40, you wake up and something doesn't hurt, it's a pretty good indication you've died during the night.
LOL - Well, I know I feel better now, thx wirecutter.
Wife just recently had knee surgery. She tried to work it too hard after, paying for it now with a slow recovery.
Best wishes for good heals!

Get well Mike, we need you.
Happy Easter to you and yours.
Get that doc to fill a script for you, you'll need it for a while.
Having had one knee rebuilt, and the other kinda-sorta needing it, I have the greatest sympathy for you, Mike.
And I'm right up there with Scott J!
I'll wager your knees aren't the part they're worried about. Get well. You are needed.
If it can be repositioned without surgery, and it could be.... you might want to use a knee strap afterward. It'll keep the tendons close to the bone, relieve pain and allow things to tighten up over time. It won't work if you've torn a tendon, though.
I use it, and it allows me to be mobile in aggressive terrain.
Congrats on the knee dislocation. According to Wikipedia "Patellar luxation is a common condition in dogs . . . It also occurs in humans, where it can be associated with damage to the anterior cruciate ligament."
BTW, the illustration on the site is of a dog's knee. Couldn't find one for human knee.
The REAL question is . . . Why'd you do whatever it was you did to dislocate the thing in the first place? I know, I know, it seemed like the thing to do at the time.
In all seriousness, I hope you have a good pain med. I also hope that putting it right is something a good orthopod can do via arthroscope. If they have to really open it up to make the repair then the healing will be long and uncomfortable. I've had arthroscopic surgery before (to clean out the bits of miniscus floating around in my knee joint capsule) and it wasn't too awfully bad. It did leak synovial fluid (elbow grease) for a while but I was walking a post working security less than a week later.
Good luck and I hope your insurance if good. Hope the orthopod you are seeing is good, too.
Regards,
Bad Cyborg X
Mike:
Have been following your comments and opening my eyes for some time now.
Appreciate your Patriot's voice.
Best of luck with the best plan for your knee.
Because of you, and others, the awakening continues.....I am now doing my part to assist in the awakening.

Amen, wirecutter. Planted a large chunk of my garden today. The whole time thinking about Genesis 3:19 and muttering about Adam and Even passing that curse down to us.
Prayers for you.
Had my left knee rebuilt awhile back.
Doc was pissed when I walked into the follow up appointment.
I didn't realize that it was full of Novocain.
Like Wirecutter said, anytime you wake up on the right side of the dirt is a good day.
Thank you and David.
Not a believer, but best of wishes.
