If I had this hoplophobic moke's email address, I'd send him a reading list about his own history.

"Down Here, People Just Like to Shoot Stuff": A transplanted New Jerseyan ruminates on the Southern obsession with firearms.

Up North, even toy guns brought a gut-level fear for African-American parents. Boys running around playing an innocent game of cops and robbers with their plastic pop guns could easily be misconstrued by the police as armed felons (see: questionable cop shootings). For as far back as I can remember, the black parents around me carried a palpable paranoia about letting their little boys play with toy guns. And of course, having the real thing in the house was always a scary proposition -- the possibility of tragedy was just too high, and the upside was just too low. (After all, if you have to keep your piece locked in a safe at the top of your closet, how helpful is it going to be when that mythical armed intruder is standing over your bed?)

This fellow needs to do some reading on his own history. I'd start with Redemption: The Last Battle of the Civil War and finish with The Deacons for Defense: Armed Resistance and the Civil Rights Movement.

What a historically ignorant wretch.

I challenge the guy to come to my AO and find a roadsign outside of city limits that has not been shot.

If he thinks Southerners like to shoot stuff, he should check out Alaskans...

Nick Chiles and his family may simply have overactive imaginations.

His wife, Denene Millner, was quoted by the Associated Press making allegations of racism and claims of family being targeted by vandalism just after Obama's election:

Far as I know, no local Atlanta area media was able to verify claims made in the AP article.

As a hatian-american who is pro-gun and very pro second amendment it pisses me off that shit heads like him make black people look bad. This guys has no idea what the hell he is talking about and second does he not know that black slaves were not allowed to own firearms?! Does he not know why? Because if they had firearms they would no longer be slaves!

My ancestors in Haiti were given arms and when Nappy and pals tried to disarm the slaves it back fired on napoleon big time. Arm citizenry works! Haiti's revolution proved the point that free people own arms and slaves do not. This asshat is a disgrace to blacks who own guns and very ignorant of his history. Anyway great blog and keep up the work on the Gunwalker Scandel.

This guy has plenty of company. Note that the bulk of America's Jewish population learned nothing from the Holocaust in general or the Warsaw Ghetto uprising in particular.

Living in the world the way you wish it to be and denying obvious proof to the contrary can get you killed, sometimes in wholesale and/or industrial sized quantities.

I would stomp on this man's son's testicles in front of his own eyes so that he might feel a fraction of the pain I feel every day.

A modicum of common sense is necessary with ownership of firearms. Failure of male household leadership could probably lead to this these type problems. Apparently these folks have lived in fear their entire lives.
