Patrick Richardson writing at Pajamas Media comments on Issa's recent appearance on the Roger Hedgecock show:
Issa Demands Justice Dept. Answer Project Gunrunner Subpoenas
Said Issa: "If you made a decision this felony stupid you shouldn't be making decisions any longer on behalf of the American people."
Issa told Hedgecock:
"We’re not investigating the sale of guns across the border. We’re investigating the lack of judgment at the highest levels."
In the letter, Issa also stated that he would ask Congress to hold Melson in contempt if necessary, something he made clear in the radio interview he hoped would not need to happen:
"Having contempt for what they’re doing and asking for contempt from Congress are two different things. We may not need it."
Issa also made clear he believed the lapses of judgment went further than just one office in Phoenix:
"This goes all the way to the top. … If you made a decision this felony stupid you shouldn’t be making decisions any longer on behalf of the American people."

Lemme guess....
The speakers office, doesn't want to ruffle too many feathers.
They made no stupid decision. They knew very well that there was no one to oppose them. IMHO, Issa is scared spitless to declare Melson in contempt. As soon as he does so it will all come out. The ugly, highly inconvenient fact is that congress has no teeth. Anything they pass can be set aside at the stroke of a presidential pen and unless they can gin up a 2/3rds majority in both houses the prez's veto stands.
The legislative branch has no way to apply force. That means it can pass resolutions till six weeks after the first issue of bunny boots to hell wear out and NOTHING WILL HAPPEN - at least unless DOJ wants it to.
Reminds me of a cat we used to have. Maud could bluff the young tomcat into doing what she wanted, but if Stewart had pushed the issue, the older cat would have had to back down. She had no teeth, no claws and was terribly thin. Fortunately for her Stewart always backed down.
Any Atty. Gen. who at all respects our country will enforce a contempt of congress finding. Problem is, I do not think that description applies to Holder in any way, shape or form.
Anybody notice that Issa's subpoena deadline passed some 2 weeks ago?
Gonna get MEAN, friends. Gonna get mean.
