Let's see. New laws mean hearings and hearings mean ATF and Justice Department employees under oath. Hot damn! I can't wait.

I have to wonder how willing the Republicans (excluding the Tea Party) are to go along to prove that they're not "domestic extremist hostage-takers" with a "Constitution fetish" "obstructing everything Obama does for our own good" because "they don't like black people." They're that kind of fool. The Left still hates Dick Cheney even though he's a big-gov tax and spend neocon and even after he came out in favor of magazine restrictions. Be what you are and people will respect and follow or hate your guts, but at least those who do follow will know the trust is mutual. I hope we don't see executive orders and ethics waivers.
gee - the 'powerful gun lobby' declined to comment. What a freakin' surprise, to paraphrase the famous quote from My Cousin Vinnie. And about the marxist libtard who wrote the article - how perfect the embodiment of Orwell's "Ignorance is Strength" maxim. Hope you're OK.
"[T]he White House will unveil a new gun-control effort in which it will urge Congress to strengthen current laws, which now allow some mentally unstable people, such as alleged Arizona shooter Jared Loughner, to obtain certain assault weapons, in some cases without even a background check."
Note the abundance of Orwellian obfuscation being used here. Congress will "strengthen current laws, which now allow (sic) some mentally unstable people [to get guns]." Will this strengthening make guns more available for psychos?? Don't current laws *prohibit* crazy people from getting guns? Yikes!
Loughner had to pass a "background check" if he purchased his Glock 19 from a dealer. Does this indicate journalists now view *high-capacity magazines* as "assault weapons" or do they simply have no idea how a firearms sale is conducted?
Let me rephrase the issue: Congress will introduce legislation designed to further restrict gun ownership at the urging of the White House.
This will infuriate blue dog Democrats and Independents, which is the same stupid stunt that caused Clinton to suffer a stinging rebuke from voters in 1994.
I predict cooler heads will prevail. I don't see this legislation getting out of committee, unless it is so watered down as to be meaningless.
The one positive thing about the Giffords situation is that the authorities had plenty of chances to force the nutcase into a mental health evaluation, but never did.
What's the point of adding new laws if LE didn't even want to enforce the old laws?
Commenter Yuki Yamagura summed it up pretty acurately: "Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, the nation’s largest gun-safety group. " This outfit is in no way interested in gun safety. Their only agenda is remove the 2nd Amendment from our Bill of Rights. They are nothing more than a hate group.
"New laws mean hearings and hearings mean ATF and Justice Department employees under oath. Hot damn! I can't wait."
Don't hold your breath, Michael. Like Defender, I, too, "wonder how willing the Republicans (excluding the Tea Party) are to go along to prove that they're not 'domestic extremist hostage-takers' with a 'Constitution fetish' 'obstructing everything Obama does for our own good' because 'they don't like black people.'"
Actually, I'm not all that confident that the TEA Party Caucus will be interested in/willing/able to do anything. Yes I like the guy I voted for last November, but I don't trust ANYONE who desires to govern us.
Glad to see it. Their true colors will raise hackles on an already economically stressed populace. Boys and girls of Congress, don't eff with our guns and ammo. We won't forget. We won't back up. You'll have to come for millions of us this time.
Be advised, Congress (& E.O. POTUS), you'll be poking a wolverine (en masse) that's already pissed off at an overzealous, felonious government. Go ahead, if you feel froggy. We've been practicing since '94...
I actually like the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer on PBS, despite the pretty obvious collectivist editorial slant. Joe "Big F'ing Deal" Biden was the guest tonight, and when Lehrer asked him about the administration's "gun control" plans (poor Jim phrased it "multi-round cartridges . . . ah, holders"), even Biden was discrete enough to carefully dance around the question.
Yes, 'the mask.' How dare the President desire to enforce the laws? How DARE he?
Will you ask your vandals to get back to their criminal work over this, Mike? Hopefully, some of the people you are targeting will have hired some armed security who will handle those people as you advocate criminals be handled on this blog.
Lehrer, a true knee-jerk Authorized Journalist. Research just slows you down, you know. Ironically, his name is German for "teacher." Or maybe not so ironically. "Multi-round cartridges"? Shotgun shells? Handgun MIRVs?
This isn't the dorks from Brady. This is the other guys. The ones with the hammer and sickle pins. Don't bother with them, they're here to distract and incite.

ut-oh.
forgetting their own rules!
If they get too greedy, and abandon their incrimentalism for what really dwells in their hearts....
let them!
it'll be a step too far, too fast, too much!

That massive pile of conflation and ignorance dwarfs even your overburdened nether regions where your park that excuse for a cranium.
Pop your head out for a breath of something other than methane. Another massive ejection is doubtless forming and you'll need the space.
Thanks for that noisome example of lefthink. Now go tell your momma you wanna go beddybye, there's a good little moron.
