Joads return to Oklahoma citing new California ammo law.

"C'mon Tom, let's go back to Oklahoma where you can buy ammunition like a free man." "Okay, Ma."

Why more Californians don't vote with their feet, I'll never understand. What a socialist shithole.

I spent a lot of time in California in the early to mid 1990s but stayed away for 12 years until I did a business trip to Long Beach last month. California was bad enough 12 years ago but was even more of a hell hole waste land than I remembered. I have traveled extensively in 20+ countries including much of Eastern / Soviet Europe. California was worse than the worst parts of Hungary and Russia. At least the Russians and Eastern Europeans now know how devastating communism is and they have hope and incentives to invest in and maintain their properties and their businesses. Long Beach was in severe decline. Even worse, you could see it in the people - how they looked and how they acted. It was straight out of parts of Ayn Rand's book Atlas Shrugged.

Mr. Vanderboegh:

You nailed that one! But the REST of the country is becoming more and more like said "socialist shithole" every day. Largely thanks to those fine individuals passed off as "Law Enforcement" who continually ignore their oath to "...preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution..."

The stench is overwhelming. And it smells like pig.

I live in Central Kalifornia which is largely conservative. Good hunting and fishing close by and far enough from the coastal areas to make it bearable.
But I only have 5 years until I'm eligble to retire (at 56 years old) then I'm walking away from my underwater (due to a divorce settlement) house and starting over.

The people in Humbolt County will have it a little easier because they are within two hours of the Oregon border. They can load up and go back. However, look for checkpoints to be set up.
Back in the 90's the CA DOJ Office would send snitches to the big gun shows in Las Vegas. They would write down the CA license numbers of the cars in the gun show parking lots. Then, CHP would lie in wait and intercept them as they reentered the state. True story. I witnessed a couple of corrupt, "perfumed princes" from the CA DOJ hierarchy brag about it at a training seminar in the late 90's. Be vigilant.

If I were entrepreneurial, I'd have a retail ammo warehouse in Verdi-Mogul, Nevada.

I thought the same thing: where is there to go.
The local news is telling us "A Richmond [Va.] survivor of the Virginia Tech shooting's film may be a semifinalist for the Oscars. More at eleven."
Colin Goddard of the Brady Coalition and his "Living For 32" filmed with their financial backing fits the description. This year's "Bowling For Columbine."

The McCarthy magazine ban bill text is released. Would ban mags over 10 rounds from sale or transfer, regardless of manufacture date. Apparently nothing about POSSESSION. Yet.

We have six relatives left in K-stan.

Two are midlevel management, both actively looking for jobs in Texas.

Two are retirees, living on limited resources and of advanced age. It would cost them more to move than they could possibly save in the time remaining to them.

Two are operators of a successful small business. They've had it on the market for years, but the business and regulatory climate is so poor that there have been no offers that would allow them to recoup enough of their investment to retire their debts.

I think this is what's left of the productive "The Golden State": Those who are in their declining years are hanging on, those who are in their aspiring years are leaving and those in their best years are chained there by crushing regulation and debt.

The "moochers and looters" of Rand are alive, well and in charge in California. The rest of the country would do well to take note.

Some of us have; I left 4 years ago, and never looked back. It's one of the best quality-of-life decisions I ever made. Make no mistake, though, a big move like that is also one of the most difficult things I've ever done -- much different when you're 50 with dependent kids than when you're 20 and unattached.

It seems to me that this law discussed in the article is in violation of certain provisions of the '86 FOPA.

Some of us are stuck until we can find a job elsewhere because we have families to feed...so we prep and do what we can. I've managed to hold onto a decent job in this economy although I've been lookin for another out of state for a couple of years without success.

If I was single I would have left with a trailer and cooler full of PB&J until I found something. Anyone have a job offer?

"What a socialist shithole."

What a bankrupt socialist shithole. The time to leave is now, because out-of-work tax parasites will soon be flooding points east, and you can bet they'll be bringing their little piece of the shithole along.

I propose that bordering states get proactive and their legislatures pass 10 year government hiring and wage freezes to keep out the vermin. (And even better would be pay cuts, unless we want a viral outbreak of California-style unemployed tax-feeder zombies smashing down our doors looking for sustenance. "Braaains....pensions....HMOs....8% pay raises.")

I left 8 years ago for economic and quality of life issues. Since moving away, I'm sure I've added 10 years to my life by eliminating the stress associated with living there. Too many people in too small a space...a powder keg waiting to be lit a-la L.A. Riots...but on a massive scale.

My family still lives there so I have to go back every year to visit. I hate going back.

We went on a vacation to visit family / friends in TX, AR, IL IN, and WV last year. We've been in CA so long, it seemed like we were visiting other countries.
Got to find a job somewhere in America fast, leave CA!

I don't feel sorry for these Californians one bit. I would bet dollars to donuts that MANY of those whining about this attack on their freedoms have done little to stop the socialist takeover of California. More than likely they didn't vote at all. More than likely if they did vote they didn't vote intelligently and voted for the same POS incumbent, more than likely they never supported a quality candidate with volunteer time and or money and certainly they never tried to make a difference by running for office themselves.

Fuck them !

Does anyone have an idea what will happen when the unemployable welfare recipiants realize that they have milked the cow dry?
49% of young men between 18 yo and 29 yo either recieve foodstamps or live in a household where that is the primary food source.
57% of the LA basin residents recieve some form of Federal or State aid.
The state unemployment rate is 33% despite what the newspapers say.
Amador and Fresno county have a rural rate approaching 40%.

56% of the true population(including illegals) pay NOT ONE DIME of state or Federal income tax.
Can you say 'Writing on the wall?'

California is a beautiful region. Unfortunately it is infested with Californians. Whoever coined the term "locust people" was spot on. Wherever they land to escape the craphole they left in California, they bring their "values", beliefs, practices and general degradation, along with a horde of relatives; all destroying what they came for just to make it like cali.

I encourage them all to stay put - the guvs gonna make it better.

Good news from California...
http://www.crpa.org/_e/page/1597/mr01_18_2011.htm

In a dramatic ruling giving gun owners a win in an National Rifle Association/California Rifle and Pistol (CRPA) Foundation lawsuit, this morning Fresno Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Hamilton ruled that AB 962, the hotly contested statute that would have banned mail order ammunition sales and required all purchases of so called "handgun ammunition” to be registered, was unconstitutionally vague on its face. The Court enjoined enforcement of the statute, so mail order ammunition sales to California can continue unabated, and ammunition sales need not be registered under the law.

AB 962 overturned. eat shit Dan.

In a dramatic ruling giving gun owners a win in an National Rifle Association / California Rifle and Pistol (CRPA) Foundation lawsuit, this morning Fresno Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Hamilton ruled that AB 962, the hotly contested statute that would have banned mail order ammunition sales and required all purchases of so called “handgun ammunition” to be registered, was unconstitutionally vague on its face. The Court enjoined enforcement of the statute, so mail order ammunition sales to California can continue unabated, and ammunition sales need not be registered under the law.

The lawsuit was prompted in part by the many objections and questions raised by confused police, ammunition purchasers, and sellers about what ammunition is covered by the new laws created by AB 962. In a highly unusual move that reflects growing law enforcement opposition to ineffective gun control laws, Tehama County Sheriff Clay Parker is the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit. Other plaintiffs include the CRPA Foundation, Herb Bauer Sporting Goods, ammunition shipper Able’s Ammo, collectible ammunition shipper RTG Sporting Collectibles, and individual Steven Stonecipher. Mendocino Sheriff Tom Allman also supported the lawsuit.

The ruling comes just days before the portion of the law that bans mail order sales of so called “handgun ammunition” was set to take effect on February 1, 2011. The lawsuit, Parker v. California is funded exclusively by the NRA and the CRPA Foundation. If it had gone into effect, AB 962 would have imposed burdensome and ill conceived restrictions on the sales of ammunition. AB 962 required that “handgun ammunition” be stored out of the reach of customers, that ammunition vendors collect ammunition sales registration information and thumb-prints from purchasers, and conduct transactions face-to-face for all deliveries and transfers of “handgun ammunition.” The lawsuit successfully sought the declaration from the Court that the statute was unconstitutional, and successfully sought the injunctive relief prohibiting law enforcement from enforcing the new laws.

You think "Texas "n the black"? Maybe in your dreams! LMAO!

Texas, which has been run by Republicans for 20 years, is facing a $25 billion deficit. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7270530.html

And they have the most uninsured for health, the worst in the country at #50. http://www.commonwealthfund.org/Content/Publications/Fund-Reports/2009/Oct/2009-State-Scorecard.aspx.

That includes one out of every five of its children, which compares poorly to liberal San Francisco where EVERYONE including both children and adults has health care. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/6592020.html

Texas has the highest home and health insurance rates in the country. http://www.dagleyinsuranceblog.com/2010/11/texas-home-insurance-rates-highest-nationwide/
