The problem is that Dana Priest has committed treason not that the intelligence agency is trying to get intelligence in various ways. She published a hit list for our enemies. Isn't it odd that someone released a list of illegal aliens in Utah to the press and the only response is to search for that person so they can punish them and this reporter released classified information that will harm the U.S. and nothing will happen to her. Dana Priest's "connections" are very questionable including her close connection with communist groups. Do you really believe she wrote this story because she is a good honest reporter?
Not 100% on subject, but definitely a relationship between your posted "Surveillance" article, is the article at the link below, wrt to Google and their being in bed with .gov national security agencies. GO read and consider implications
Anon #1 (only visible comment at this time): I read the article without any preconceived notions, and I believe you're overreacting. Further, any "official" statements of a similar sort to yours are simply more misinformation issued in an attempt to redirect public outrage from them - where it belongs - to the reporter.
A *CLASSIC* case of the miscreants screaming "HURRY!! SHOOT THE MESSENGER!!"
Every building she named is clearly labeled/signed/etc and known to the locals. As she said, all the information she "disclosed" is a matter of public record -- and if you don't think our enemies already knew it, you're delusional!
I don't know if she's a commie - and in this case I don't care. It's irrelevant.
The fact is that we've spent untold billion$, and thrown over a quarter of a million warm bodies at this task, and accomplished NOTHING.
NOTHING.
Actually, not exactly nothing -- we've ensured that folks like *US* will be the victims of the attention of these hordes of new "spies."
See, they've got to produce. They've got to protect their rice-bowl. They've got to justify their place at the trough -- and they can't do so by producing the same thing everyone else is producing - so they focus on the low-hanging fruit.
Why try (and fail) to track down one invisible guy on the other side of the world - when 249,999 others are already on him - when you can focus on some loud-mouth local and be *SURE* of "getting your man?"
This article shows EXACTLY why the .gov sucks at everything it does. It shows why the simply STAGGERING level of waste, fraud and abuse is totally unavoidable.
It shows why there's simply no way in hell we can ever possibly fix this in a voting-booth...
G*d help us...
