One gang beating up on innocents so they won't have to beat up on the really dangerous gang.

Nice story of "law enforcement" south of the border, complete with anti-cop witnesses who turn up dead.

One way to prevent being mistreated in Mexico is to stay out of Mexico.

I don't have a ready solution for how to prevent being mistreated here.

An interesting illustration of what happens when military troops are tasked with LAW ENFORCEMENT, as is increasingly happening here.
You can't question the wisdom of beating up a couple of gringos vs. going up against cartel members smuggling a tractor-trailer load of drugs and armed with actual military assault rifles sold to them by corrupt members of the Mexican military.

I think it's pretty clear that Mexico, taken in its totality is one messed up place. (Ever ask yourself the question of why a land of temperate climate so rich in natural resources, oil, gas, minerals etc is so fouled up? Americans should categorically stay out of Mexico! I don't buy the cheap truck repairs line. Makes no sense to me. That whole border area is like a free fire zone so why in the hell would anyone go there? Cheap car repairs? Bull!

"A hundred years to come my people will not be fit for liberty. They do not know what it is, unenlightened as they are, and under the influence of a Catholic clergy, a despotism is the proper government for them, but there is no reason why it should not be a wise and virtuous one." - Antonio López de Santa Anna

Actually the cheap car repairs are common - have been for years. The violence OTOH is recent, and a young man who's been going back and forth his whole life might not worry as we would.

Seems obvious to me the mejcan cat was mistaken for his cousin - the federales thought they had him and used the suitcases to set him up. They figured the gringo was also a bad-actor and thus deserved whatever he got...

By the time they realized they had the wrong guy, it was entirely to late to back off...

When you look at the total cost =
the actual goods or services +
threat of arrest +
possibility of torture once arrested +
fouled up judicial system +
cost of attorney

then the true cost of going to Mexico for any reason does not make economic sense.

I whole-heartedly agree with rexxhead and Ed. If you have any business going to Mexico, you need a new business. Stay the f*** out of there and you won't end up dead or worse.

Ed: Today you're 100% correct. In the recent past however, not so much.

You'd not believe some of the beautiful upholstery work I've seen come from SotB - work that you simply couldn't get done here.

Ultimately, though (LIKE US) the mejkins got the .gov they deserve, our idiotic "war on drugs" is largely responsible for the explosions of violence there...

As usual, the neo-marxists' tyrannical aims create problems they then blame on their opposition...

I'll say this. The government of Mexico was directly involved at one time, with the kidnap and murder of a DEA agent nicknamed "Kiki" and his pilot.

They enhanced interrogationed him to death, and tape recorded every second of it (sounds so com-bloc doesn't it?) so that they would be able to review his statements after they killed him, We have the tapes.

The fruit doesn't fall far from the barrel cactus in Mexico, and there are Americans of Mexican descent, who won't go near the place, or now know better than to try to.
