Riddle me this. How can the total number of full-auto firearms, available for civilian transfer, ever increase after the 1986 NFA revision? Or are they including law enforcement full-automatics?
1986 ended all transfers of full auto that were not in the books in 1986. Thus, the number of transferable MGs stopped increasing in 1986.
Hughs (NJ) may $%^& be upon you forever...
Machine Gun News used to publish an annual report of the NFA directory, which was even broken down into major types, like M16, etc.
The number of flashbangs increased dramatically as PDs got into the war business, I think I remember. Also, SBRs and silencers which could still be made by civilians continued to increase.
These things still needed a $200 tax to be paid if you built one and you had to wait until the paperwork came back to build it.
The number of mgs can increase because you are correct, the weapons in LE/.gov possession are included, as well as those manufactured by C2 manufacturers as dealer samples/toys.
The only mgs, not registered in the NFRTR are those that are delivered to the military for issue (and, of course, whatever someone may have made for themselves). Even mgs possessed by civilian Uncle Sam's alphabet agencies are registered in the NFRTR. They just aren't 'legally' transferable to us citizens for private use. More's the pity
1986 didn't end all transfers of new full autos. Ronald Reagan did ! May he be rotting in hell. Eff his legacy ! He was another scumbag leftist masquerading as a conservative.

We need to get both SBRs and Silencers out of the purview of the ATF before they tell us that it would create too big of a budget hole to do so.
And that's just the registered ones.
I'll take oil filters for $500 Alex.

One should not have to register a effing thing with .gov. Not even your motor vehicle.
"....shall not be infringed". Yeah, right. The Constitution is dead.

If a suppressor was any other kind of noise reducing device, OSHA would require its use as PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
If anyone is aware of any other kind of PPE that requires government permission to own much less use I'd like to hear about it.
And these are the "legal" ones registered with the BATFEces.
When we become a society WROL, all bets are off.
'Nuff said.
