"The teachers union contract in Ferndale Public Schools in Oakland County gives "special consideration" to applicants who are of "the non-Christian faith." Ferndale Public Schools provision could violate state and federal laws
See also: "Quite a find yesterday by Michigan Capitol Confidential, which is a publication of the free-market Mackinac Center for Public Policy. In Ferndale, Michigan, which is directly north of Detroit, the contract between the school district and the teachers union contains a clause that gives hiring preference to members of certain groups - mostly ethnic minorities. But the Ferndale school officials and their union have an interesting way of defining a minority, and if you're a Christian, you might want to look elsewhere for a teaching job."

According to the article, FEA is part of MEA, which in turn is part of NEA.
Any possibility this idea has been implemented nationally, and somebody in Ferndale was the first to notice?
And the Libtards wonder why Conservative Christian parents are home-schooling their own children.

Beyond that, I thought it was against Federal law to give "special consideration" to ANYBODY based on the gender, race, or religion.
I do not understand this. The Constitution provides free exercise of religion, not religious preference, as was the case in several colonies prior to the American Revolution.
Excluding people for municipal employment based on their religion is shameful and illegal.
Are the only Caucasians eligible for employment preference in this town Jewish, Wiccans, Odinists, Zoroastrians, Atheists and Satanists?
It will not go over well with the large number of black Christians, and other people marginalized by this zany (and patently illegal) scheme.
I wonder where the ACLU is on this?
