"Yet Again the NRA Sells Out Freedom to the Democrats." The Lairds of Fairfax once again prove to be "a weak little girl of an organization."

General Sebastian Snowflake, NRA net apologist extraordinaire, strikes a pose at Valley Forge. Striking poses is what he and the NRA are best at.

Erick Erickson at Red State denounces the Lairds of Fairfax.

"A weak little girl of an organization protecting itself while throwing everyone else under the bus."

Ouch.

And speaking of weak little girls, Here are NRA Internet Division General Sebastian Snowflake's latest cravenly excuses.

What a putz.

In 1985, we had a nice Italian restaurant in my town, the owner/chef was a native Italian. Exceptional food at an exceptional price. As the restaurant became known, the first to go was the quality of service. Then, the owner sold it to investors, and continued to cook the food as prices doubled. As of today, June 13, 2010, the restaurant no longer exists. Understand?

For some time now, before becoming aware of Sipsey Street and now other sites(thank you mike for the links)that the NRA had become just Another Lobbying Group like so many others.Last year I called the National Headquarters in Fagfax and asked why we(the NRA) didn´t have some kind of demonstration on Washington D.C.a Million Man March. If you can Imagine, A Million Man Armed March. Well the phone went silent and I had to ask the Girl on the phone if she was still there she answered that yes she was still there but I could hear the FEAR in her hell I could taste it through the phone line.(me thinks she wet herself)
I no longer support the NRA financially or in Any Political Adventures They may care to indulge in they Have not the cajones to support the Liberties the I see as our National Heritage.
NO!NOT ONE MORE INCH!!!!!!

The NRA operate from the philosophy of 'Rule of Man' who can grant rights or not, at their whim. So they sleep with the enemy to beg for some rights, please. This also defines Quislings.

The NRA's world view is repugnant to Americans and our Constitution: Where our rights come from God, and the role of government is to preserve and protect those rights.

Once again: Where do rights come from? The NRA? Harry Reid?

Despicable characters like the NRA Quislings are always a burden
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were ever our countrymen.”
— John Adams

Their only role may be to occupy the enemy, and lul them into thinking they can control the NRA (which they can) then they can control the people and our pesky Liberties. If they occupy the enemy and confuse him: ok by me.

I read a little bit of Sebastian's arguments (such of it that I could stomach), and one thing that just flew off the screen and slapped me in the face was his attempt to seperate gun rights and freedom as seperate issues.

GUN RIGHTS AND FREEDOM ARE THE SAME THING!

Oh, I see how it works. The NRA gets a special exemption because they are, well...special.

Note to Sebastian: Freedom is indivisible. You can't deny it to GOA and yet expect it for yourself.

I'm going to buck the trend on this one. I support the NRA's position. They have huge resources at their disposal, and those resources strike fear in the hearts of politicians at all levels of society. The only reason this remains true is because of their single issue focus.

What we need is for some of you folks to create your own orgranization focused on the issue you are trying to convince the NRA to go after. Build your own national lobbying group in favor of freedom of speech, smaller government, and so on. Instead of complaining about the NRA or competing with the NRA for those vast but finite resources, strike boldy at the heart of leviathan with a different shaft thrown from a different position.

Look for ways to compliment the NRA by choosing another issue, building your own national lobby, and fighting to get that issue protected. Let the NRA focus on the Second Amendment while you focus on the First, the Fourth, the Fifth, the Ninth, the Tenth, or whatever. Pick one and only one and then build an organization to protect it.

My understanding of the Strickland endorsement is that, on their congressional record (and Preacher Ted's gubernatorial record), Strickland was objectively more pro-gun. Kasich earned an F in '94 for supporting the assault weapon ban. Given that the perception has been that the NRA would endorse Sarah Brady if she ran for something under the Republican ticket, this is actually a good thing. But it doesn't make any sense to be a one-issue freedom voter...or organization.

N.R.A.-Negotiate Rights Away.

Fuck this sorry ass POS of an organization. I haven't been a member for a decade and a half and never again would be. Many years ago when I was still a member, a couple of fellow Threepers and I were at a gun show. We walked by the NRA booth and one of the cronies yells out, "I hope y'all are NRA Members" And I replied by saying, "Yeah, I am, unfortunately" He angrily responds, "I guess you don't care about your gun rights then?" And I said, "Yeah I do. Too bad the NRA doesn't"

Fuck the NRA.

Gee, from long observation I assumed that what the NRA did best was fear monger and beg for money.
A week before the Alabama primary I got a postcard from the NRA demanding my support for Parker Griffith, a shady character as best and no friend to conservatives despite his flood of attack adds trying to say differently.
I still believe that the NRA does some good with their safety and training programs, but given their latest positions when my current five year membership expires I may very well not renew. and in any case any additional funds I am able to kick in will go to GOA, SAF, or local organizations actually doing some good.

NFA 34.
GCA 68.
Clinton AWB.
Brady.

The NRA elected not to fight any of these. If they are, indeed, a gun rights organization, what precisely will they fight for?

Whenever I get to feeling a little down after reading an article about something the NRA has done (which, come to think of it, is _every time_ I read an article about something the NRA has done...) I reread this:

Go to www.nrawol.net to see even more of the compromise the NRA participates in. Response to some of the comments: Of course they are a lobbying group. They are supposed to be. We need groups to lobby for our interests. But the NRA compromises our God-given rights that are unalienable; they cannot be surrendered, sold or transferred. The best groups are NAGR, GOA and, even better, your state groups like RMGO here in Colorado. They are no compromise and fight at the state level where real change can be made. These are the groups that have passed Constitutional Carry in AZ and Firearms Freedom Act in states like WY, TN, MT, etc. I completely disagree with Greyhawk, if you agree with the NRA, then you might as well say you supported McCain for president. Compromise has gotten us to this point. Tyranny is just around the corner. I will not compromise any more.

The NRA is quickly proving itself to be in the enemy camp. I have come to detest the organization with its compromises and dirty deals with the devil. And as for the pragmatists who engage in constant apologetics for this increasingly irrelevant organization, I am ready to place them in the enemy camp as well. You CANNOT be in favor of gun rights if you are not in favor of LIBERTY as well. The 2 CANNOT be separated.

Rhodes said...

This is why the NRA will never get another dime from me. Money better spent with other orgs and candidates.

Anonymous said...

OK Greyhawk. Let's take your idea and separate all the individual liberties from each other so they can be picked off one by one.

Also, tell the NRA to stop sending out bumper stickers saying, "Freedom First" because apparently that was just ruse to help them with their then current concern while "Freedom First" really doesn't mean anything to them at all.

Hogwash.

You can't expect to retain the liberties you consider important if you're unwilling to defend those I find important. Otherwise they'll (the progressives, communists, collectivists) will take them away, one by one, until none remain.

Folks, it's past time to start feeding these progressive scumbags to the hogs.

I liked the JPFO, until they screwed over Jay Simkin. I know him personally, and the crap he and bruce chesley got from aaron zelman they definitely didn't deserve.

http://www.gunownersalliance.com/Lethal-Laws_Statement.htm

the problem with the NRA is that they can't decide if they are a gun rights or hunters/shooters education organization. I thought when NRA-ILA started up it would split the group into 2 distinct organizations, each with it's own focus. but that didn't happen.

I received a one year NRA membership as a gift. I dropped my membership after 1993 because they considered giving cops and active duty military the right to have non ban guns a victory. So I Stuck the membership card in my wallet, said thanks for the gift, and threw out every piece of mail from the NRA, as every bit of it was whining for more money. So the membership lapsed, and I thought that was the end of it. Then, a couple of weeks ago they send me mail with "past due" printed on it, like I was some sort of person who does not pay his bills. F*@K YOU, That is the last straw. I am sick of the backroom deals, the fawning of Law enforcement, the blata$$ing for more of my money. Then you send me something like I owe you money?

Like they say and mean, NEVER AGAIN. Not on cent of my money, or anyone paying for a membership for me. If I want to support turncoats, traitors and mountebanks I will send money to the GOP...

Quote: "...The bill is reported to exempt organizations that have over
one million members, have been in existence for more than 10 years, have members in all 50 states, and raise 15 percent or less of their funds from corporations..."

So, the NRA agreed to step out of the opposition if this bit was added.

Gee....

I wonder what other groups meet these "standards"?

The FIRST one to jump to mind is the SEIU.

Way to sell us out, NRA...

I've been losing faith in the NRA for a while, but stuck with 'em thinkin' they were the biggest and, even though they, I'll say compromised, at times, they were still going in the right direction.
Endorsing Reid was one of many things, but it was the second biggest error they made, to me.
I live in MA, and last week, they sent a letter stating that they needed my money to fight to implement the Castle Doctrine in my state and others, clearly stating MA is not a castle-doctrine state.
They lied.
Surprisingly, MA is a Castle-Doctrine state, I just came across that last month while researching Militia laws in MA.
Last week, that was the biggest thing that stuck in my craw about the NRA, and I was debating, until today, to drop my membership and give my money to another org.
Tomorrow, I think I'll make that call and tell 'em they've sold-out America for the last time with my support.

my letter to the NRA...

just because they threw the NRA a bone and exempted you...that does not mean it is any less of a threat or a violation of free speech.

you may be exempt today, but tomorrow might be a different story. or have you forgot history????

"THEY CAME FIRST for the Communists...."

the NRA replies....

Dear Allen,

Thank you for contacting NRA-ILA and for providing your comments.

Please take the time to read NRA's Statement on H.R. 5175, The Disclose Act http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/NewsReleases.aspx?ID=13902, as well as the letter NRA sent to Congress, which should provide you more insight. http://www.nra-ila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=5888.

I would like to highlight the following:

"The NRA cannot defend the Second Amendment from the attacks we face in the local, state, federal, international and judicial arenas without the ability to speak. We will not allow ourselves to be silenced while the national news media, politicians and others are allowed to attack us freely.

The NRA will continue to fight for its right to speak out in defense of the Second Amendment. Any efforts to silence the political speech of NRA members will, as has been the case in the past, be met with strong opposition. "

Sincerely,
Michael Land
NRA-ILA Grassroots Division

and my reply...

so...you only defend the rights of NRA members.

"Any efforts to silence the political speech of NRA members will...be met with strong opposition. "

if a law went through that took away the freedom of speech rights of people who weren't NRA members, you're ok with that?

how about 2nd amendment rights? if that were exclusive to NRA members, you'd be OK with that too???

remember, whenever laws go through with exemptions for certain groups..those exemptions never last.

this is a weapon against groups LIKE yours..and to think that you can appease the monster by feeding it everyone else first..always ends the same. you still get eaten, but there is no one left to help.

The NRA has seriously outdated itself.
Within itself it has seriously eroded.
If you don't understand the BS from a HUGE national organization wishing to propel itself into the next phase and in which sell out the original perspective, hard to finish the rest of this without being too philosophical.
