Yes, they can kick our butts and get away with it...until they get off of their shift and the kid at home says, "Daddy, I saw you hit a man on the internet today. Why did you do that?"
"We are everywhere" seems to have finally gotten through.
One of the great changes I've observed in Law Enforcement over the past 30 years is that as the middle class has shrunken and the underclass with their sense of entitlement has grown, police agencies seem to view all Americans as being of the latter. Not by way of excuse for their actions, but explanation...take a guy with a superior moral squint...add in excess testosterone and stir with a "them or me" survival attitude...you have one deadly recipe.
I respect, appreciate, and love our police, firemen, military, doctors, nurses and EMT. I have known a few cases where police have reacted badly to being photographed but in every case the photographer felt the need to be confrontational. My advice to anyone confronted by the police is to be overly polite and comply quickly and completely with them. If a policeman does you wrong the place to have your say is in court or not at all. If you are foolish enough to challenge them even if you are right or think you are right then you will get what you deserve.
>> If a policeman does you wrong the place to have your say is in court or not at all. If you are foolish enough to challenge them even if you are right or think you are right then you will get what you deserve. << Considering the incestuous relationship between police and courts, this statement is unintentionally hilarious.
I also like the 'you'll get what you deserve'. So much for Peel, I suppose.
I've also had cops get angry and confrontational when being photographed outside of an abortion mill harassing people who were praying there. "Only Ones" is right.
I figure there are two types of Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) - cops and pigs. Cops know that (and are satisfied with ) they are there to ENFORCE the law. Pigs consider themselves to BE the law. All pigs are LEOs and fortunately not all LEOs are pigs. Unfortunately in my experience the ration of cops to pigs is swinging rapidly in favor of pigs. Only pigs worry about being photographed on duty.
Cops are the membrane that separates average citizens from chaos. I would do anything in my power to help a cop.
Pigs are AGENTS of chaos. I wouldn't piss on a pig if he were on fire.

You say, "...If you are foolish enough to challenge them even if you are right or think you are right ..."
This is precisely the kind of attitude that would turn free men into sheep...or slaves.

No more free Wacos or Katrinas, but people are getting arrested in America for videotaping cops.
Why are we not shooting yet?
