If you have not seen the latest update from David Codrea relating to his short trip, I would invite you to do so. Death is a homecoming, but he has summed up the sentiment of saying goodbye to the Old Man in a way that I could not.
What an incredible life he must have lived to know such a friend as David. If we all had just one like him, this world would be a very different place.

If the principles of liberty and a sovereign people survive in our country (whether or not it remains one nation), it will be significantly due to the tireless efforts of Mike Vanderboegh to hold back the advance of tyranny.
Thus if his contributions are forgotten, it will only be because the tyrants win so completely as to erase the very memory that there ever were free people living in this land.
I have no intention of allowing that outcome.
More importantly, his character shows in the character of his children. We who remain behind have the duty to pick up the guidon and carry on to victory.

Mike himself once said: "And when we are gone, the scattered, free survivors hiding in the ruins of our once-great republic will sing of our deeds in forbidden songs, tending the flickering flame of individual liberty until it bursts forth again, as it must, generations later. We will live forever, like the Spartans at Thermopylae, in sacred memory."
I had the great good fortune to meet Mike at Salem and shake his hand. At the time, I was impressed by his inner strength that brought him all he way across the continent at a time when he was obviously very ill. While we must lose this great man, let us not lose the resolve he passed on to patriots across the country.

THREE PERCENT
As freedom fades
to twilight dim
and darkness filters in
Hopes fall
Like withered leaves
On droughted lands
Of deep despair
But we ourselves
Are here
Brought,
Not blown
By fate and resolve
To stand before the storm
uncolored by fear
unshaken by threat
We Stand
For freedom
