"The first guy who uses a Second Amendment weapon to bring a drone down that's been hovering over his house is going to be a folk hero in this country."

Krauthammer On Drones Flying In US: "Stop It Here, Stop It Now"

These mouthpieces and pundits are finally getting it.

As Mike says, "Welcome to the party pal"

They are beginning to grasp the principles and ideas, to understand now, why the Constitutional prerogative of the legal, lawful, moral organization of Militia's, and the exercise of 2nd Amendment redress, is cherished and valued as an honorable and sovereign duty to securing Liberty and Freedom for millions of AMERICANS.

Well I for one say it is never too late. We can use all the help we can muster or be gifted with, no matter the source.

Aren't all weapons (firearms) second amendment weapons?

Did I just here a call to arms in the mainstream media from a ruling elite?

Open season on drones?
Works for me.
I just may have to spring for that Ma Deuce upper I been drooling on for too long.

Yup.

Oh, this is RICH in irony... Krauthammer, neocon gungrabber that he is, is advocating some citizen use a -gasp- GUN, to bring down one the manifestations of big brother.

It was over a decade ago that Krauthammer advocated the eventual banning of private gun ownership in the U.S., since that was the ONLY way we could truly join the rest of the "civilized world". For such a smart guy, it would seem illogical for someone with Krauthammer's obvious physical limitations to want to go back to a world where might-makes-right, and people stuck in wheelchairs or otherwise rendered defenseless can be preyed upon by the able-bodied.

But now he seems to like the idea of the public having guns... to shoot at drones.

Idiot...

Always remember, to most people, "Helter Skelter" is a sickening story about a series of depraved murders. To the Left, it's a cherished strategy.

Don't always agree with Mr. K. (usually he's more'n a bit left of me) but here I think he is spot on.

The local NBC affiliate (actually the least obviously left-leaning of the local stations including Fox) recently did a piece on surveillance cameras here in San Antonio. Don't know who many people they talked to, but 1 person (20s black guy) said it gave him the creeps and the other (elderly Hispanic lady) said it made her feel more secure. Me? I try to stay the heck outta down town.

I have a semi-auto .308 win/7.62x51. Is that enough rifle to take down a drone with the right projectile?

I see more "cottage industries" like this to counter the threat.

Strange that Krauthammer would use the 2nd amendment in a statement against drones. He is, after all, anti-gun. (Wants us to be more like Canada.) Too bad the statement wasn't issued by someone with more credibility. Oh, by the way, I want to be the first guy who shoots one down over my house. Not for the fame, just as a test of skill.

I believe that anti-drone tactics should be practiced by American militamen with as much emphasis as small-unit tactics. Pick up an older edition SMCT, individual AA techniques are in there.

No one will be taking down a drone with a "2nd amendment weapon". They are WAY out of range. Such a person would need some sort of fast R/C jet-powered aircraft with a range of 8 miles to catch and kill a drone via kinetic energy transfer. It would need video feed back to allow for a constant bearing approach.

Forget about it. There are here to stay.

Not only shoot down the drone but figure out where the "drone control center" is located and take out their operations center too. The RANGE CARDS work great for the locations of the ememy too.

...so Faux News can report on the militia group conspiring to shoot down homeland security aircraft, while Mr. K again calls for a total ban on guns? No, thanks!

Mr. Krauthammer, your inner "armchair provacateur" is coming out.

BTW, Mike, welcome back to the land of the living! Prayers for your health and safety continue.

The bad news is that drones loiter at altitudes we can't hit with conventional small arms.

But as I pointed out to one nervous nelly, that drone has to have a pilot, and it has to land eventually to refuel.

I am an old model-airplane guy. I have built dozens of them, and lost most of them in thermals (blows on fingernails and buffs them on vest)

and I tell y'all, that if I had any money to spend on anything besides food and shelter, I would be happy to provide practice targets.

Most of the surveillance drones are just big model airplanes, really.

Pretty sure it has already happened. My recollection is it was some anti-hunting group flying a drone over a shotgun shoot, or some damnfool stunt like that. Ah yeah, here ya go:

Am I the only one who gets irritated by the term "drone?" "Drone" implies that the vehicle is robotic, and it's not. It's a remote control airplane (VERY remote control in the case of Predators and other military ROVs). It's not exactly "unmanned" either. Someone's definitely "manning" it, they're just not inside it. I tend to say "remotely operated vehicle."

Time for Civilians to build and fly battlebots as a counter measure

Shooting a drone down with a SAW, 2nd AM weapon -- aka a gun, is like killing an ant. There are more where they come from. The source must be attacked and destroyed if you want these things to disappear.

Anonymous said...

You may be looking at this from the wrong angle. It is not necessary to destroy it in the air. But if you could jam it into failure it would hit pretty hard. I am not a radio guy. How hard would it be to build an antenna and scramble the signals?

Good for the one who attempts and succeeds... Fear may be harder than it appears. But pat on the back for the one who gets one for sure in our collective gulag.

The Big Sandy shoot in Arizona features small remote controlled airplanes streaking across the firing line. Shooters on the line are welcome to try and bring it down, and they frequently do.
