Nine-hundred and seventy-two MILLION dollars for under 5,000 employees!?!?
...and just when I thought I couldn't possibly be more outraged.
My question is, how much revenue did this "taxing authority" bring in and how much of that was from firearms?
I wonder if they publish the name and number of their Inspector General - if they even have one.
Y'know what's worse?
80+ MILLION gun owners let fewer than five THOUSAND JBTs lord over them.
ONE JBT for every sixteen thousand gun owners.
That's pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.
Now you've done it Crustyrusty. You've pointed out that we are more interested in whining about things than actually doing anything. Doing something would require us to put down the beer, turn of the sports channel and risk life, liberty and freedom to protect life, liberty and freedom. You know, kind of like our founding fathers did. They would be so ashamed of the nutless cowards we have become.

Crusty,
I think that's the point Mike makes in Absolved when he talks about the what the battle of Sipsey St. did to their org chart.
Also, don't forget to count the FBI when doing your "we outnumber them" comparisions.
They sided with ATF and Waco and Ruby Ridge.
Oh and to add to the numbers keep in mind that agencies like DOE, EPA and (I think) FDA have SWAT teams now.
You think the current occupant of the White House would hesitate one bit about signing an exec. order to press them into service for an "operation clean sweep"?
Yes, we do outnumber them but their odds are better than only 4,884 ATF employees.
It winds up being like the lone man facing an angry mob with a sixgun. No, he can't kill all of them but who wants to be one of the six to take a bullet?
Fabulous!
"The ATF also regulates via licensing the sale, possession, and transportation of firearms, ammunition, and explosives in interstate commerce."
THEY acknowledge no authority to regulate INTRASTATE commerce.
theaton,
You're right, of course; hell, look how long it took for someone to heave a bloody rock through a window.
We're too law abiding for our own good, methinks.
BTW, at this site: http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/lawenf.htm
2004 statistics say 836,787 sworn officers in the US. 105K are feds. Vs. 80+ million. By rights they ought to be quaking in their boots.
As did the U.S. Marhalls Service.
Still it's not a fight they are likely to win force on force. That is why they are using subterfuge, propaganda, and limited attacks.
It is easy to destroy 80 million people one at a time, much harder to destroy 80 million people all at once. That is why they move slowly so as not to wake the other 79,999,999 others.
If, at some point, we don't stand for others, we will all stand alone.
Can anyone explain why the IRS needed it's own private army?
IRS needs JBTs to seize assets. Any government organization that grabs stuff has a special 'shock and awe' team to do the grabbing.
