Why not the "Gunwalker Bill" Newell ATF Building?

ATF image problem? Bring back Eliot Ness, as building name, at least
With the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives reeling from its botched gun-tracking operation, who better to help boost the agency’s image than perhaps the most famous G-man, Eliot Ness?
Congressional legislation has been introduced to name the bureau's D.C. headquarters the "Eliot Ness ATF Building’’ after the agent whose battles with bootleggers and mobsters in Prohibition-era Chicago inspired the book, movie and TV series "The Untouchables.’’
The naming really had nothing to do with the Fast and Furious operation, which has become the subject of a congressional investigation. It's included in a broader bill, introduced by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), who chairs the Senate committee that oversees federal buildings.

Instead of naming it after Elliot Ness, why not name it the Elijah E. Cummings-Maddow Nest? A nest, while associated with birds, also denotes a gathering place for vipers. Just a thought.

Why not the "Brian Terry ATF Building"?

Why not the "Jaime Zapata ATF Building"?

Why not "American Thoughtcrime Federales (ATF) Building?

Oh, no.... It has to be named the "Russell Vander Werf Building" to describe ATF management and commemorate Vander Werf's sterling (all night) performance in Metairie, LA, December, 2009. No offense intended to the ladies that enjoy such activities or for legitimate gay guys.....

Aw, I think "The Waco Baby Killer ATF Building" would be a better choice.

You are a pathetic coward.

Eliot Ness, a agent of the FBI, had not connection to the AFT, except perhaps through an indirect link via Prohibition, so why would he have wanted his name on an ATF building ?

Name the ATF building after an alcoholic bullshitter whose career in law enforcement ended after a hit-and-run DUI? Sounds more or less appropriate to me.

Mike there is a well written piece by Bob Owens posted on Pajama's Media:

"...Fast and Furious is also the most damning media scandal in American history, with the overwhelming majority of research and investigation into the plot coming not from Pulitzer-equipped investigative reporters backed by powerful media stalwarts, but from bloggers like Mike Vanderboegh and David Codrea, and new media reporters like Mary Chastain, Katie Pavlich, and Matthew Boyle, the latter group representing companies that just erupted into existence.

It’s a brave new world where powerful political and media interests face a siege from what one well-known online pundit had the foresight to call “an Army of Davids” set out to slay the mainstream media/Democratic Party Goliath.

Fast and Furious has gone mainstream in a big way despite the best efforts of the gatekeepers to protect the attorney general and president, the two individuals many believe to be at the core of both the plot and the coverup..."

I'd say our entire law enforcement and executive of the federal government has more than an image problem.

Great question over at Andrew Breitbart's Big Peace:

"What If Walmart Sold 2500 Guns Illegally, Walked Them into Mexico, and Hid the Documentation from Congress?"

How about the "We'll decide what rights you have" building.

I can't find anything that says Ness was FBI. He was a Prohibition Agent, becoming the agent in charge in Chicago. After the end of Prohibition, he was an Alcohol Tax Agent. Those were the two jobs that made him the patron saint of BATFeces.

Then he was the Safety Director (chief of police) of Cleveland. His final government job was with the federal government, trying to stamp out prostitution and VD around our military bases. I do not believe this had anything to do with the FBI.
