U.S. Troops In Neighborhood Streets Fully Armed

If these guys train like they fight, I'd say this is fairly begging for a long burst from an M240B.
“Just training Ma’am. Joining up with another patrol at the rally point.”

Hm, well, since it's the MN National Guard, which are States Troops, there isn't much here really. Me as a federal Troop can NOT do this, they can. Legally. Now, if these guys had been federalized, then yes, it's a bad thing again. Since the purpose of States Troops is to guard the State, well, this is where they should be. Not in some dessert, eh? By the way, the State Governer can still tell the feds to pound sand if they try to federalize their Soldiers for something that isn't right.

Also remember that guns and ammo sales are at an all-time high, and continuing to climb. Uncle Sam ain't the only one stocking up.

While Nat'l Guard troopers do belong to their respective states - individual ones and units can be federalized - without the consent of their governor. The gov. can try to resist the order - at the risk of losing all federal funding - for everything.
Couple of problems - particularly in the video from Katrina - some of the NG troopers were id'd as being from Oklahoma (under what authority were they operating?) and they WERE performing de facto LE operations - clearly against the Posse Comitatus Act.
Then there was the clip (video - not a bullet holder) of the police chief stating in public that no one could be armed and all guns would be confiscated - which both he and his 'boss' (that would be nagin in case memory lapse has set in)later on patently denied had happened (IOW they LIED)>

Anon 0621: The only problem with that argument is that a) the pay, uniforms, arms, and all other support for your "State's troops" come from the Feds. Hardly the bastion against federal encroachment that too many NG apologists imagine. The only vestige remaining of the old militia is that the states still get to appoint their own officers (as long as they meet the officer qualifications set forth by the federal military)...I think ultimately, the real issue with the photograph is that they are "patrolling" in a built-up area, by diddy-bopping down the street like they're walking through the park. Too many guys, even infantry studs, have spent too much time in the Stan getting lazy, because Hajji can't shoot worth a damn anymore.

Anonymous.. I hate to burst your bubble but the NG has been "Nationalized" since Daddy Bush was in office. Your view of a governors authority is about 30 odd years old and needs a review.

Please remember that was OK NG that ran wild in New Orleans violating citizens 2nd Amendment rights by forcefully disarming them while following knowingly illegal orders from a quisling scumbag mayor. The funny thing was during an interview they all assumed it was legal.. so much for your intelligent military refusing illegal orders and it will happen again.
This pic shows an attempt by govt to accustom civilians to the presence of brute force and military authority that doesnt exist legally.
It would be nice if some reporter got to ask these "warriors" a few questions with honest answers about what they thought they could do.

Unlike Anon @ 6:21 AM, I find the sight of armed troops training for operations in residential areas seriously unsettling. If the "Train like you fight; fight like you train" maxim still obtains, those boys and girls are obviously training for SOMEthing! Clearly they are preparing to conduct combat activities in residential areas.

Note to Anon, while Gov. Dayton certainly COULD, indeed, "tell the feds to pound sand if they try to federalize their Soldiers for something that isn't right", since he is a Dhimmicrat I seriously doubt he would balk if Dear Leader told him to do so.

@Yank III: "is pic shows an attempt by govt to accustom civilians to the presence of brute force and military authority that doesnt exist legally."

Kind of cuts both ways, though. From the statist perspective, it gets citizens accustomed to seeing soldiers. However, it also gives regular folks a chance to see that the soldiers aren't supermen.

Sort of like Tianeman Square? If you remember, the local troops would not take action against the citizens protesting. It was when troops from the other side of China were brought in that the slaughter began.

I cannot see local troops firing on their neighbors. But when you bring them from another state...

As a former Ohio Army National Guardsman (2005-2011. 2-37IBCT, 2-107ACR) I can tell you that there are PLENTY of Ohio Guard troops that would fire on Ohioans without question, I know because up until 2007 or 2008 I would've followed those orders as well. There are also alot of SDF 'soldiers', that if armed and ordered to do so, would murder their fellow citizens.

Also, National Guard troops are not 'state troops'. They haven't been for at least 100 years. Our pay, equipment, benefits, commisions, training, everything, comes from the federal government. My uniform didn't say 'Ohio' on it, it said 'US ARMY'. They are no different than Army or AF Reserve personell, except that they are 'on loan' to the states, and territories, and can be withdrawn from state duty, and rolled up into the federal reserves and active forces at any time.

Also, the NG was raised under the powers to raise armies, not as a Militia force. US Code and various state codes have been tweaked to try to make the make it appear as though the Army and Air Guard were organized as state militia. Smoke and mirrors, that's all it is.

Bad Cyborg,
by your comment to Anon, you are saying that if he were a Republican this probably wouldn't be happening? Republicans have more balls than Democrats? Republicans believe in the Constitution more than Democrats? Or did I miss something?

When are you party line fools going to wake the fuk up?? Just keep voting Republican, the world will fix itself? Just like every election cycle so far, nothing but hot air gets recycled, more crooks in office, billions$ in wasted election funds and you pat yourselves on the back for a job well done. No wonder we're sunk, and thank yourselves for this!

It all depends pretty much on what our definition of "local" is these days..

I would like to think our "sons and daughters would have the balls to refuse an illegal order and arrest the POS who issues it at the least but I fear I'm to be proven wrong.

Daddy Bush nationalized all NG troops before sending them to Iraq the first time and they have not rescinded that to this day. They are all under orders from the fed as any other troop and the local Governor cant do squat about it.. iirc one tried back then in court and was shut down by a fed judge.

The patriot Act violates the Posse Comitatus act as does several newer "laws and orders" and no one cares until they get themselves shot over it.. then it will become important.

As for Op authority during Katrina
it matters not since they did the deed anyway willfully violating Constitutional restrictions on several levels.. not to mention leaving lawful citizens unable to defend themselves, hows that for the"sons and daughters" concept

Defacto LE has no right to disarm citizens either and too many have gotten off too easy for trying.

Imagine a democrat mayor having the nerve to lie about something..

Just saying.. we all need to keep our facts correct and our noses in the air because we will have plenty to grouse about soon enough.

The training scenario here was actually Martial Law/Civil Unrest. Confirmed fact. Your suspicions are completely justified. But you didn't hear that from me.

No American citizen I know would drop the hammer on an American soldier. Now the Soviet Spetsnaz their training out in Colorado right now ............let them try walking down that same street wearing their blue U.N. helmet`s. 70 year old grandmother`s would turn into Audie Murphy blazing away with shotgun`s and kid`s would be throwing rock`s.What planet are these goddamn politician`s from who are behind this stupid shit?.

Soooo,

I'm just going to throw this out there, but there are places in the world, other than the US, that have residential areas, and hence military unit train for urban/semi urban operations. There are alot of NG/Reserve units that do not have easy access to a regular training area. If this picture was taken down the street from an armory, then this is nothing more then another routine training event. From the look of things, these guys are on a road march for physical training purposes. These days, their equipment is in line with the norm for that sort of thing(that whole train like you fight thing). What's more is that the article, while a couple of months old, was written on April 30th. Reserve component units don't have alot of training days in a given year, compared to their active duty counterparts. So given that these guy's annual training is only a couple of months(read at most 6-7 training days after that particular event) they're more than likely trying to get some training in prior to their two week AT. This exact thing happens every spring and summer all around the country every year. And every year someone starts freaking out about "US troops doing XYZ" on our soil. What's more is that Minneapolis is a fairly liberal place, and hence not the most military friendly anyway. SO people are more likely to freak out when they do see a unit doing anything outside of the armory. So to sum it all up, this is nothing more than routine training, in preparation for annual training, just the same as every other year. So until they start manning checkpoints and harassing citizens(which in the case of this unit would be the friends and family of the soldiers in question and hence even less likely), you can put the tin foil hats away. Now, if that starts happening, then the hysteria would be warranted. Otherwise, if you wear red colored glasses, everything will look red. Hell, if you live in Minneapolis, there's a fair chance you or someone you know, knows someone in that unit who would know and probably tell you exactly what they were doing.

I support open carry. This includes for our own troops.
It is obvious that the Government is getting ready for the street violence the Leftist-Scum are trying to start on our streets.
Look up Black Bloc on YouTube if you doubt this.
Now why am I supposed to fear my own neighbors in the National Gaurd more than NAZI collaborator Soros funded Anarchists?

Seriously, the scenario was Martial Law/Civil Unrest. As in, here in the US. Fact, fact, fact. As in, no goddamn question about it, that's exactly what it was. Training for when they have to 'put boots on necks", as one of the involved Guardsmen put it. Some people will make apologies and excuses for it right up until its their neck the boot is on, like anon@10:05. Doesn't change the fact that Uncle Sugar is getting ready to fight his own nieces and nephews. Prepare yourselves accordingly.

P.s. you really think the Redbulls will be deployed to control parts of Minnesota? Are you really that stupid? There were Thunderbirds confiscating weapons in New Orleans. What does that tell you? Frikken moron. Pipe down, the adults are talking.

Saying the word fact repeatedly does not make it so. Every year, during the spring and summer, there are lots of "sightings" of US troops on the move, or "training to enforce martial law". Notice a pattern? Every year. Do you know why this is? Because for two weeks every summer, National Guard and Reserve units are conducting their annual training. Also notice how none of these "sightings" are ever by anyone who knows anything about the military? It happens every year.

Simple numbers invalidate the idea of the military imposing martial law. Success in conventional conflict requires a 3-1 advantage against your opposition. Counter Insurgency requires 10-1. Now if you assume that 1% of US citizens in the US would become the opposition of that force, that means the US military would need something to the tune of around 30 MILLION PEOPLE. In World War 2, we only had 12 million in uniform. Now we don't even have 1/4 of that, and they're cutting the Army and Marines even more on top of this.
