Shaweem, Shaweem, Shaweem

Tired of Speaking Sweetly

Love wants to reach out and manhandle us,
Break all our teacup talk of God.

If you had the courage and
Could give the Beloved His choice, some nights,
He would just drag you around the room
By your hair,
Ripping from your grip all those toys in the world
That bring you no joy.

Love sometimes gets tired of speaking sweetly
And wants to rip to shreds
All your erroneous notions of truth

That make you fight within yourself, dear one,
And with others,

Causing the world to weep
On too many fine days.

God wants to manhandle us,
Lock us inside of a tiny room with Himself
And practice His dropkick.

The Beloved sometimes wants
To do us a great favor:

Hold us upside down
And shake all the nonsense out.

But when we hear
He is in such a "playful drunken mood"
Most everyone I know
Quickly packs their bags and hightails it
Out of town.

Brian Fitzgerald - tail of the kite: beautiful poem. Copied here with Brian's permission. [brianf]

tail of the kite

Taste is the tail of the kite of style.
Government is the tail of the kite of society.
We are the tail of the kite of all that is.

Enjoy the breeze and the view. They change constantly.

The kite flier loves our dance in the sky.

On the same page, Brian has some good commentary on my gun article of yesterday.

I'll stop shooting off my mouth when they pry it from my cold dead body.

Today, Sean Hackbarth presents us with a low-res picture of himself. [mind]

David Montgomery at the Washington Post - Intruder Shook Bush's Hand BugMeNot: Hehe. [unknown]

Four years after he pulled the same stunt at President Clinton's second inauguration, a man without the proper clearance walked through security checkpoints and then stepped up and shook President Bush's hand shortly after the swearing-in, sources familiar with the incident said yesterday.
