Subject: RE: Evidence against
the House of J.P. Morgan... That [going through universities] is not the way it was done. In those days (1880s/1890s) there were less than three dozen "electrodynamicists" worldwide, and the "universities" were not nearly so powerful as they now are. Electrical engineering, e.g., was just beginning to be established! Morgan was backing Edison, and both of them had just been defeated in their intention to set up a vast DC electrical power empire with a big DC power plant every two miles or so. Tesla's AC installation at Niagara Falls was far more practical, and so everything began to switch to AC, which was much easier and was practical to distribute for long distances over electrical distribution grids. In Europe the advisor to Edison's group (backed by Morgan) was Fleming, who had studied directly with and also under Maxwell himself. Fleming also knew group theory, which had been adopted in 1870. Meanwhile, Tesla had discovered that the "medium" was active, and that one could freely extract real EM energy from it. He was hell-bent on doing just that, and giving free electrical energy to the world. This would have defeated most of the great cartels that grew up and sprouted when there was little or no control of "big business" at all. So in addition to setting up the total suppression of Tesla, Morgan also directed his scientific advisors to insure that this new EE just being born (they were adapting the limited Heaviside equations) did not include any of those foul "energy from the active medium" Tesla systems. Which means that the advice and insight of Fleming would have been tapped. Not the university; Fleming directly as a consulting to Edison's group. Recall that later Morgan united with the electrical Edison group to form General Electric. And Fleming could see that the unmodified Heaviside vector equations still contained some asymmetric Maxwellian systems -- and "energy from the active vacuum" systems are asymmetric, a priori. Thus Morgan would simply have said "Fix it!" to his administrators and CEOs. The "Fix" was done by Lorentz, a very good scientist who also was noted for using the work of others and taking credit for it. (To see it, see J. D. Jackson and L. B. Okun, "Historical roots of gauge invariance," Reviews of Modern Physics, Vol. 73, July 2001, p. 663-680. Discusses roots and history of gauge invariance, verifies that Ludwig Lorenz (without the “t”) first symmetrically regauged Maxwell's equations, although it has been misattributed to H. A. Lorentz (with the “t”) as being first. This is an excellent coverage of the history of who did what and when, and who got credit for it.] And Lorentz did the dirty work. He simply "symmetrized" the Heaviside equations. See H. A. Lorentz, "La Théorie électromagnétique de Maxwell et son application aux corps mouvants," [The Electromagnetic Theory of Maxwell and its application to moving bodies], Arch. Néerl. Sci., Vol. 25, 1892, p. 363-552. [Also in H. A. Lorentz, Collected Papers, The Hague: Martinus Nijhoff, vol. 2, pp. 168-238, esp. p. 168.] This is the work that Lorentz cites later (in 1895) for his proof of the symmetrical regauging theorems (the two equations of symmetrical regauging). Later, when Heaviside unfortunately discovered the giant Heaviside curled EM energy flow component that accompanies every feeble Poynting diverged energy flow component but is more than a trillion times its magnitude, Morgan also had it "fixed" so that EEs would not be taught that every generator already pours out more than a trillion times as much EM energy from its terminals as is in the mechanical energy input to the generator shaft. And again Lorentz did the "fixing". See Lorentz also arbitrarily discarded that stupendous nondiverged Heaviside curled energy flow component that pours from the generator terminals in addition to the tiny diverged Poynting component; see H. A. Lorentz, Vorlesungen über Theoretische Physik an der Universität Leiden, Vol. V, Die Maxwellsche Theorie (1900-1902), Akademische Verlagsgesellschaft M.B.H., Leipzig, 1931, "Die Energie im elektromagnetischen Feld," p. 179-186. Figure 25 on p. 185 shows the Lorentz concept of integrating the energy flow vector around a closed cylindrical surface surrounding a volumetric element. This is the procedure which arbitrarily selects only a small diverged component of the energy flow associated with a circuit—specifically, the small Poynting component being diverged into the circuit to power it—and then treats that tiny component as the "entire" energy flow. Thereby Lorentz arbitrarily discarded all the extra Heaviside circuital energy transport component which is usually not diverged into the circuit conductors at all, does not interact with anything locally, and is just wasted. Now for Fleming: Later he actively advised Marconi how to change things a bit and get around the Tesla patents on radio etc. This was knowing and deliberate. The deed was done, and Marconi received credit for the discovery of radio -- after essentially stealing his major ideas from Tesla's work. In 1943, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Tesla's primacy, and the fact that Marconi's work was lifted from Tesla. Yet to this day our "noble" scientific community continues to credit Marconi for radio. See Sungook Hong, in his Wireless: From Marconi's Black-Box to the Audion, MIT Press, 2001, p. 72. Quoting: “In his letter to Marconi on February 19, 1901, Fleming reassured him by saying that Tesla could not do anything, and that ‘if you can receive there [in America], you will establish priority" [Hong, 2001: 72]. Comment: This establishes that Fleming was knowingly connected with suppressing Nikola Tesla by 1901, and in fact was in contact with Marconi to advise him (Marconi) in trying to bypass Tesla’s actual patents and prior art. When Marconi later tried to bring lawsuit against the US Army Signal Corp, he lost. Tesla had already demonstrated priority of art. See particularly Nikola Tesla, "United States Reports: Cases Adjudged in the Supreme Court of the United States," Vol. 320, Marconi Wireless Telegraph Co. of America vs. United States, June 21, 1943, p. 1-80. Record of the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in 1943 that Tesla's fundamental radio patents had anticipated all other contenders, including Marconi.
