I think the Hitachi motor that he modified in Japan was about a half horsepower.

Also, I'm sure such high efficiency motors are available here, but have not looked into it.  Certainly Hitachi makes them.

How big (i.e. what horsepower) was the unit that Kawai demonstrated to you?  Presumably it was fairly small.  I'm trying to guesstimate the costs involved.

I presume high-efficiency motors such as this are available in the US?
