Nice to hear from you,
and to think of the Cheniere area again. Those were the good old days,
and of course one never forgets them. Can't go back ever, of course,
but it was all there. Ha! You probably remember how on some days when
weather conditions were right the emissions from Brown Paper Mill could
be smelled over a wide area, even 10 miles away. And you also remember
the bag factories. You remember May Haw flats, where all the May Haw
trees grew. Best jelly in the world is made from May Haws. And May Haw
jelly is something I have not had in decades!
I really don't know
whether Saddam Hussein has scalar weapons or not. There is a
possibility he does, by having leased or bought them from the Soviets
when the Soviet economy collapsed, but I have not been able to find any
direct information on that, either yes or no. So it's just a
possibility. I'm pretty sure he does have a few nuclear weapons,
because he had calutrons (advanced centrifuges) and was already running
them at the time of the Gulf War, and the very few of those calutrons
our guys captured already had weapons grade U235 residues in them. And
he does have anthrax and smallpox. We know there are foreign nuclear
weapons already hidden and waiting in U.S. cities; e.g., the Soviets
introduced nuclear weapons into our large cities and population centers,
along with the Spetznaz teams to detonate them on command, before the
collapse of the Soviet empire. Lunev's book tells some of the ways they
inserted the weapons in here. Piece of cake.
Al Qaeda has stated
that it also has seven nuclear weapons hidden in American cities.
Reluctantly, I suspect that may be true. The Al Qaeda stated that some
of these weapons are 100 KT and some are 10 KT. By comparison, that's
more firepower by far, ready to be unleashed on us, than was used on
Nagasaki and Hiroshima combined.
Anybody else who
wished to insert such weapons and had them or bought them, probably did
so as well. One must accept that probably China, e.g., inserted some
nuclear weapons. Nor only are many Russian suitcase nuclear weapons
missing, but more than 100 nuclear warheads for missiles are reported to
be missing in the Ukraine. Those missile warheads may well have been
sold on the black market, when the Russian economy collapsed and Russia
could no longer pay its generals and soldiers. They simply sold off
whatever equipment and weapons they could, in order to get money to
survive. Anyone (terrorists, whatever) who had money and guts, could go
into the former Soviet empire countries then, and buy just about
anything desired. One Russian mobster even bought a Russian nuclear
submarine, complete with missiles, to use to defend the dope trade, and
also purchased the services of a Russian admiral. Fortunately the U.S.
arrested the mobster before he could take delivery of his nuclear sub.
So we have a tough
situation here in the United States. For two or more decades, those who
desire to destroy us, have been steadily inserting weapons and terrorist
teams (and commando teams) inside the U.S. Since we have some 15
million illegal aliens, and some of them are those very terrorist teams,
etc., it's a real mess.
Some counter actions
are being rapidly taken, albeit very quietly and without any fanfare.
Nuclear detectors have been extensively inserted already in all our
major cities and population centers, searching and scanning continuously
for radioactive substance indications. Sometimes these sensors trigger,
e.g., on the radioactivity of medical patients who have received
radiation therapy (as for cancer, etc.). Some of the patients have
actually been stopped and strip searched on the street, as a preventive
countermeasure. Regrettable, but you can see that our government is
(justifiably!) highly concerned, although no one will openly discuss
hostile nukes hidden in our cities, or what is being done about it. I
personally am gratified that they are finally taking countermeasures, to
try to detect and intercept such weapons and material, even though the
methodology is still a bit crude but developing.
At least this
government is doing its best to try to set up some interception and
defenses for us! We've sat here for two decades, on our hands, when
these kinds of countermeasures should have been being implemented,
honed, and perfected.
The terrorist-backing
nations have also inserted other weapons of mass destruction, such as
anthrax and smallpox, in here as well. It is almost a certainty that
smallpox will be unleashed, probably here, and perhaps in Europe also.
With the present great vulnerability of the human populace to smallpox,
and the pathogen's 30% lethal rate, an effective release of smallpox in
any major city on the planet could eventually kill some 2 billion people
worldwide --- or about one third of the human population. As you can
see, a rather straightforward professional release of a single weapon of
mass destruction -- smallpox -- can make the casualties in World War II
look like a picnic.
This is the reason
that this new war on terrorists and terrorism -- and their backer
nations -- is so important. If we were to continue just allowing
foreign terror-backing states to do their thing, and the stuff to
continue to flow in here along with the terrorist teams, and not
vigorously try to root out and neutralize the hostile assets already
inserted in country and waiting, then we can absolutely be destroyed.
Remember the lesson of Vietnam. If the sponsoring states are not
neutralized, you can fight the guerrillas and terrorists forever, just
taking casualties all the while. If you do, eventually the U.S.
civilian populace gets fed up with feeding its sons and daughters into a
meat grinder, and demands their return home. If you do not go ahead and
widen the conflict and win it, Americans are not going to just let their
sons and daughters be used forever as cannon fodder so to speak. My
personal philosophy, admittedly as an old soldier, is to get in there
and get it won, as quickly as humanly possible. The Gulf War is an
example, except again we did not finish it. In my military opinion,
Schwarzkopf should have been allowed to destroy the Red Guards when he
had them pinned up there at the last, and that would have resulted in
the fall of Saddam Hussein.
Meanwhile, today It is
a very bad situation, and we are very likely going to see some bad
times, even given our best efforts.
Meanwhile, as an old
dog I have to confess for sometimes a nostalgia for the old days, when
things were simpler (a lot poorer!) and things like nukes in our cities,
biological weapons waiting to be unleashed on us, etc. did not exist.
Ah well! One never
steps into the same river twice; the water has long since flowed on, the
river has changed, and it's a different river by far from one's youth.
One cannot recapture in the physical world those marvelous, aching,
breaking, exuberant, sometimes depressing times.
But one has it welded
in one's memory. Along with the memory of so many of those beloved
people one grew up with, most now already deceased. Cheniere, the
community and the people and the lakes and the creek. The Ouachita
River, in Monroe, which used to be Fort Miro, a trading post with the
Indians. The old Ouachita Parish High School, right on the street on
the banks of the Ouachita. The old radio station, owned and operated by
former Lt. Governor Jimmie Noe, where our little Rhythm Harmoneers trio
played for a few years with a daily radio show. So an old dog like me
sometimes takes the luxury of just dreaming a bit, of how it was, and
where it was, and when it was. That way, once we finish with Cheniere
and Calhoon in our reverie, it's back to Shreveport time. Back out
there again with Jim Reeves, on the stage and fronting for him in
touring shows. There's Bryan Ritter (steel guitarist and singer), Harry
Liner (bass violin and singer), Tommy Lindsey (fiddle and singer), Floyd
Cramer (piano), Jimmy Day (steel guitarist), and for just a short time
Loyd Ellis, one of the world masters of the guitar. Or with Johnny
Horton on tour or on his recording gigs. Or back in a recording studio
in Shreveport or Dallas-Fort Worth. The Saturday night Louisiana
Hayride is just kicking off, and old Hank (Williams) is back there
again, preparing to give them a blast. Billie Walker (who's still
going!) is there, along with Bill Carlyle et al. (he's still kicking
also!). Little Red Hayes, renowned fiddler now deceased, is just kicking
off the first tune by Jim Reeves, also now deceased long since. Red
Sovine (long deceased) is waiting in the wings, and the Maddox Brothers
and Rose (Fred is deceased, as is Rose) are warming up backstage, in
their colorful uniforms. Hoss (Horace) Logan, Master of Ceremonies (now
deceased), is just turning away from the mike, having introduced Jim
Reeves. I got Logan's book, just for the nostalgia and for old time's
sake.
Then we sorta wake up,
shake the cobwebs out, get out of the chair, and get on with the day's
business at hand. We will soon see what is to be, because it's all
coming to a head now at breathtaking speed.
Very best wishes,
Tom Bearden
TOM, I
REMEMBER WHEN CHENIERE WAS JUST A BIG CREEK OR SMALL RIVER. THE GAR
WOULD REALLY TEAR UP THE WATER. I AM BARNEY FULLER, MY DAD WAS CONNIE
FULLER, FOR MANY YEARS HE WORKED AT THE BROWN PAPER MILL. I WAS RAISED
OUT TOWARD EROS. YES, I FISHED PUCKETT LAKE AND LITTLE LAKE MANY TIMES
AS A BOY. I WAS BORN IN 1935 IN WEST MONROE. I HAVE BEEN READING SOME OF
YOUR MATERIALS. QUESTION. YOU RECALL THE ARTICLE OR NEWSCAST WHICH
STATED THAT THOSE ON THE DOOMED SHUTTLE WHILE ABOUT THE EARTH WITNESSED
A RED ARC OVER IRAQ? WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THAT? DOES IRAQ POSSESS ANY
SCALAR WEAPONS? AND WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING IN THIS COMING CONFLICT.
WILL IT ONLY BE CONVENTIONAL WARFARE?
NICE
PICTURE OF THE LAKE. MY COUSIN ROY FULLER LIVES ON PUCKETT LAKE ROAD
AND HIS BACKYARD IS CHENIERE LAKE. |
